Parishville is the biggest joke. Not only will they lose their post office but their dumpy little school is next. We can't continue to pay huge taxes so that every four corners can have a school and post office. They can drive a few miles to the next post office to pick up their welfare check. Also, Enjoy the school mergers that are coming your way Parishville and Colton.

wow--- you surely must be someone without children. what an assinine thing to say/because parishville hopkinton area needs their own school and post office also.my now adult children attended phsc and it was an awesome school then and now. some great faculty there- and there are pluses to smaller schools.the tax rate for parishville is one of the best in the county. and spend your day watching how many come and go into the post office each day.it is more than a few miles for many people. all you are thinking of is a few bucks- but it amounts to more than that.the local store counts on the road traffic of the same folks. it has a huge impact to close either one. maybe you don;t feel it is needed- but you are outnumbered by a longshot.

Outnumbered? Hello, Parishville is a ghost town. And your taxes don't even come close to supporting your school. The State is getting ready force places like you to merge. Otherwise that nice low tax rate will shoot throught the roof.

when people don;t have the guts/balls to take a stand and we lose services and facilites- they are the same people to bitch somewhere down the road.the schools may indeed be consolidated someday-but the post office wouldn;t be. once its gone- its gone.possibly (wow) doesn;t have the need for a local post office- have you ever tried getting any decent service without waiting half the day in potsdam? no parking- understaffed- its
a nightmare to use the potsdam post office.so go go go jerry moore- he won on that crap niagara mohawk pulled a few years ago- give the guy his credit due for giving two shits about the people in this community.apparently wow doesn;t give two shits.

This is a typical response from a Parishville resident. Jerry is representative of his peer group and I'm sure they will elect him again. Good luck with your future disappearance into another school system and post office. The Potsdam office is not as bad as you claim.

really now? well don;t stop into the potsdam office when its coffee break or lunch time. the line is a mile long- one clerk open- no parking- its a nightmare.as for jerry- he represents everyone regardless of age/gender etc.. he loves this tiny little hick town- and so do many others. it has its perks contrary to what some may say.if you live in parishville- sell your house to someone who likes the low taxes- and good neighbors to count on. that is small town life at its best.

"Wow" apparently does not know how the USPS works. The USPS does not use any tax dollars for its operation. USPS receives absolutely no federal tax dollars for its operations. Closing all the post offices isn't going to lower any one's taxes.

"Wow" is the symbol of all the greedy, selfish and apparently moronic people in the world today who only care about themselves and screw everyone else. He or she apparently thinks everything he sees on the TV is true.

There's many people especially senior citizens, local business owners and employees who depend on these small post offices & who sadly will be the ones most affected by all these closures.

Don't worry about the closing of the Post Offices in the American Holocaust. The closings will make way for jobs at the Death Camps.

The USPS has to pay their workers too much because of unions, there will be many more closings to come, if they even keep it running they are billions in debt....unions are destroying our country

The unions are not the problem for the USPS. USPS was the ONLY company forced by congress to PRE FUND their employees retirement health benefits. The USPS did have a profit and guess what it had to go into those funds forced congress during GW Bush's reign as President.

The unions of this country have done a lot for the workers of this country. Look at the history of the conditions many of our ancestors had to work in, it is only because of the union that working conditions improved.

Town people, have you worked for the USPS? It's not easy work I can assure you and the front line postal employees, ie your mail carrier the mail clerk etc, do not make very much. In this economy it's just barely a living wage.

Cutting jobs and wages isn't the answer, let the USPS have the prefunding of it's benefits refunded and problem solved.

Only ones forced by congress ok...The rest of the companies are forced by unions exactly why nothing is made here anymore bc we can't make anything with a competitive price after the company pays workers comp, health, some crazy retirement..ect ect
Yes they may work hard...but atleast they are working
This country WILL run out of credit and you people will see we can not go on with this spend spend spend mentality
The USPS runs out of money ok so fed x and ups will pick up the slack and prob other companies will be formed...we need to go back to our foundation

America is at its foundation. The only difference this time your death fix it (deficit) in the American Holocaust. First they came for postal workers, then they came for veterans with awards, then the teachers, and soon you can't have you collect social security and add to the deficit now can they. C.R.E.A.M.

Perhaps cutting pick up and delivery to 3 days per week will allow the USPS to balance their books.

I believe the USPS is one of the best bargains the people in this country have. Nowhere in the world can you send mail across the country for the price we pay and receive curbside delivery. Raise the price of 1st class stamps to at least a $1.00. It is at a ridiculous low price now w/fuel prices so high. Our postal employees are some of the best underappreciated employees there are.

Actually, I can send something FOR FREE and have it delivered directly to the person IN SECONDS! It is pretty awesome! No fuel costs or labor needed!
