Everything I've read about this guy tells me he deserves more than to be described as a typical low-life rapper.

Not a rapper, and quite possibly above the now bastardized hip-hop.(Although real hip-hop artists still claim the genre over these glamor thugs.) More like a real artist, writer, poet, and surprisingly insightful and intelligent individual.

Chuck, I hope no one spits on your obituary.

For those of you that are baggin on Eyedea, you should be ashamed of yourselves. Especially those of you that come from MN, the state that he was representing when he rapped. Eyedea was true hip-hop: not that fake MTV bubble gum rapper stuff. Sure he not an Eminem, but some of his lyrics hold the same weight. He was not a thug and for those of you that do not know him, you should seriously Youtube him.

Eyedea's lyrics can wax the floor with Eminem's.

Eyedea and Eminem are like apples and oranges: Eminem is a better written rapper than freestyle. He evens admits it during the Red Bull Emcee contest.(Too bad D.N.A. got booed off the stage in that one.) Wildstyle also beat Eminem too. But no one can really take way the fact that Eminem has awesome simulies and multis when he writes his songs. Eminem used to be able to freestyle well, but he is so used to written format that he has sort of lost his ability to do a good freestyle. Eminem was a Scribble Jam Finalist in 97 before he lost to MC Juice.(When Scribble Jam was dope with the multiple OTs!)

Honestly, I cannot truely say which one is better. If Eminem really wanted to, he could probably wipe the floor with a lot of the King of the Dot/Grind Time people, but it would not be patty cakes. He is so type A, that I think he would not even choke at all on his deliveries and punches. I think Illmaculate would be one of the few that would give Em a worthy challenge along with Nocando and Johnny Storm and maybe Dumbfoundead (if he came back to GT). On a written track he has slaughtered/runined many a rap career. Only Cannibus was able to withstand a track diss from Em because Cannibus was a true MC prior to just doing rapping. Let's not forget the infamous Benzino rap beef along with Vanilla Ice (not a real MC) and dude from House of Pain (moderate level MC). Battle MCs do not keep flawless records for long (if they consistantly go against foes their caliber) so Em would not have no 8-0 record or anything like that. He would probably have like a 6-3 if that.

Too bad MC Jin and Eyedea never happened or Iron Soloman and Eyedea. He will be sorely missed. I think it is safe to say whether or not he was better than Eminem, he will be sorely missed. I liked Eyedea way better than The Saurus. And yes, his Scribble Jam stuff was epic.

Why is this story making a come-back after 6 months?
It was painful enough the first time. And, to you hateful swine who are dissing the dead, may you walk in his shoes!

OK,you seem to have a really good grasp on the inderground hip hop scene, and I'm really not trying to be snarky when I say this, but how do you even put Eyedea and Eminem in the same category?

Besides them both being white, I don't see one similarity in their styles. Eminem banks on clever alliteration and current TMZ stories to say 'shocking' things about people (ie shaking like Michael J Fox) where Eyedea goes more for story telling or role playing.

I have all albums of both artists, and the artists for me serve different purposes in my music library and I would never put them on the same playlist. Just wondering your thoughts...

It would be nice if all rappers met this fate.
