Ha well you're friend's got a good taste in music then ;) I'd give Enter the Wu-Tang (36 Chambers) a go as it's their debut album and a great starting point. Then, I'd go to either Liquid Swords (GZA/Genius) or Only Built For Cuban Linx (Raekwon) to listen to the classics first...well that's what I did, ask your friend, she'll probably give a similar plan :) If you do watch Menace to Society let me know what you thought :D and yeah bang-on about less mainstream artists (I mean, I only discovered Daz Dillinger about two weeks ago!):)
Haha okay got it :DDD and yeah i will thanks mannn - and what?! You discovered Daz of Tha D P muthafukkin' G only two weeks ago?! Loool where you been hiding out? ;)

Ha I know shame on me ;) but seriously I've only truly got into west coast like a month ago (before that I liked Cube, NWA and Dre but had no idea who The D.O.C was for example) so I'm sorry for that but now I'm a Daz fan, especially his production work :D Ooh here's one: Straight Outta Compton or Efil4zaggin?:)

Ahh fair enough hah - ive been listening to it for years!!! And defo Straight outta ... It goes down with the other undisputed west coast classic gangsta rap/hip-hop albums which are in my opinion as follows; - The Chronic, Straight outta compton, Doggystyle, All Eyez on me, Amerikkkas most, Predator, No one does it better, OG Original Gangsta, Tha Doggfather, Dogg Food (perhaps), The Slim Shady LP (again, perhaps - thoughts on Eminem by the way???), It's on (187urmmm) Dr. Dre, regulate... G funk era, Murder was the case (soundtrack)..... Im sure there are many more haha, my favourite album of all time in all genres is Doggystyle - my favourite song of all time is off Doggystyle; "Who am I (What's my name?)- the way Snoop combines the elements of a gangsta's street life (murder sex drugs black on black gang crime etc) with perfect rappoing and an actuon packed funky beat is extraordinairy - what about you?

Straight outta... for me too although the production on Efil4zaggin is great too although Ice Cube's absence is sadly felt :) Wow big list ;) to clarify, are those your favourite albums or just a list of classic west coast albums? It's just I was surprised to see an Eazy E album on the list and pleasantly surprised by the Ice T album's entry (btw, thoughts on Ice T?) as he isn't really as popular for some reason :) Hm I personally really don't like Eminem and never listen to any of his stuff...he just seems (ironically) a bit too weird AND yet somehow radio-friendly and perhaps most importantly overrated. You?:) My list of classic west coast discs would be Straight outta Compton, No one can do it better, OG, Amerikkka's Most wanted, Quik is the name, Music to driveby, the chronic, death certificate, cypress hill, the predator, way 2 fonky and MAYBE Dogg food and All eyez on me if I was in generous mood :)

Yeah they were a list of the West Coat Classics - an yeah you filled some in which i didn't ;) and yeha i ca5 stand eminem - he's weird like you said even though i have to admit he is talented :) and ermmm I absolutely love Ice T's "OG", but not listened to his other stuff - any good? And no Doggystyle on that list??! Haha that's been voted one of the best albums of hip-hop's history, let alone a definite landmark and pinnacle of G Funk along with The Chronic! Have you listened to Doggystyle by the way? Never asked. And what about favourite song of all time?(By the way i do like all of those albums on that classic list- e.g i hate Eazy E especially during his feud witb Dre - i personally thibk Dre ans Snoop DDDDEEESSTROYYED him with. the Chronic and Doggystyle - e couldn't retaliate with a decent selling album but anywyas, suppose it is a classic :/

Ha well I didn't put Doggystyle on that list because I took it as read ;) That and regulate I just forgot as they were too obvious...Hm...don't hate me for this but...I've never listened to Doggystyle straight through in one sitting (of course I know the classics on it; gin and juice, who am I (what's my name) etc) so I've listened to bits of it but not it as a cohesive whole. Shame on me eh?:) Ah I'm so glad you like Ice T too because he's so underrated. Unfortunately, I think OG's his best album so I can't recommend any of his others of the top of my head :) I appreciate it that you've added the Eazy album to the list though for history (especially beefs). Glad you don't like Eminem too though :D

Haha dont worry about it ;) ;) ;) Just seriously give it a listen - i know the lyrics to that shit like off by heart haha,(and on tha rest of his albums). if you play it from the beginning NOT on shuffle, Snoop makes it so that the songs (which are all superb - seriously, ive never seen an album in which all songs are excellent like this) flow on from each other ,... dre does that on The Chronic too :) xD Read the reviews on Wikipedia or metacritic - you'll see it's legendary - even the introduction is amazing ;) and yeah I agree! Ice T is the most underrated West Coast artist in my opinion - and yeah I suppose i put it down as Eazy's comeback, but a perhaps more classic one is Eazy Duz It.:) i suppose "2001" COULD go on the list, but is anything after 1996 really classic?! I'd argue not, though the opinions may differ :) sorry what's your fvourite song?

Oh yeah haha sorry forgot to say ;) Best song? Well...I'd have to go for They Reminsce Over You by Pete Rock and Cl Smooth. I just LOVE that song :D If you're after best gangsta song then I'd probably say Shook Ones Part Two by Mobb Deep (check it out, it rocks) or Two to the Head (Kool G Rap, Ice Cube, Scarface and Bushwick Bill) Please check out all three of those songs because they are plain GREAT :) Oh and soon (i.e.. tomorrow or so) I'll listen to Doggystyle so I can talk to you about it :D

Haha i'll have a listen to those - I've never really listened to Mobb Deep :S and is Two To the Head from Live and Let Die? i'll defo listen to those haha and feedback :) and yeah haha No rush don't feel no pressure if you dont want to but it is a perfect 53 minutes album ;) listen to the dropped singles as well - they're on Death Row's Snoop Doggy Dogg: The Lost Sessions, and they're some singles which were never added to the album. Even though it went 5X platinum, it was never finished

By the way, not many people know that "Tha Shiznit" was a freestyle - the whole thing was just done off the top of Snoop's head right in the rec. Studio :O

I listened to Shock ones .. I really like the beat, and even though i dont like west coast, i really enjoyed the song as a whole - the second (bald) rapper - name?- reminds me so much of Kurupt :S as for Two to the head, for me it was too raw and rough - the beat was too NWA and not enough G-Funk haha ;)

Ah well I've got a soft spot for Mobb Deep so really like their stuff (until they sold out to G-Unit in 2005 :( but I think they're independant again now) Two to the head is from Live And Let Die and although it's probably not that great it still gets a lot of play on my iPod ;) I promise you I'll listen to it this week :D and yeah, I might check them out :)

The second rapper is Havoc (who also produced the song) glad you liked it though (it's off the Infamous):D Hm well I know what you mean about the beat (it was produced by Sir Jinx after all) but lyrically shit was bangin'! ;) Have you heard of They Reminsce Over You by Pete Rock and CL Smooth? It's not gangsta AT ALL but it's a really sad and poignant song :)
