None of his alums were completely good from start to finish and his songs were very repetitive. He's one of my favs but he was never that good. Neither was Biggie, who was a prottype to what rappers are today (meaning materialistic craprap) except he had a good flow.

Yes, biggie was better lyrically, but thats all I will give him. while I agree Tupac is overrated, I still think he is better than B.I.G. Biggie rapped about money way too much & had a very narrow subject matter. If you listen to rap simply for the clever rhymes then Biggie is your man. But if you want to hear someone who has deep thought & an actual message, then tupac is better. Tupac was a great MC, one of the 5 best, but to hear so many people say he is hands down the best ever, is a total bandwagoner. No MC is way better than everyone else. In fact, it is so close that it just comes down as to who prefer.

i don't know why pac is so overrrated but he has been the most overrated rapper in the business since he died. i guess dead rappers get better promotion. i was not impressed when he was alive and thought he was overrated then too. there is too many rappers who can lyrically rhyme circles around pac's catalog. i guess NY just came too heavy for Cali. if there was an east vs. west rivalry in the mid-90's, the east coast took that! theres atleast ten emcees from NY better than pac and even andre 3000 from the south and eminem and common from the mid-west are better rappers. pac is probably the most overrated artist of any genre. i like pac but he's not even close to the god he has been made out to be. he wasn't even no 'gangster' till he started fucking with suge. he was more aware of civil rights, affirmative action, police brutality & political corruption and his raps were more like social commentaries. he was never a gangster until he became suge's mouthpeice. pac was born in NYC and raised in baltimore in the 80's among the crack epidemic where urban poverty reached unseen heights. as a teen, pac moved to the bay area in california and never lived in L.A. until he signed with death row. pac ain't from L.A. or even the west coast for that matter so he had no business set trippin' and getting involved with L.A. gangs and the beefs of L.A. gang bangers. the west coast adopted pac as their spokesman. he represents california like no other and he ain't even from the west coast. he was born in harlem(NYC) and raised in baltimore,md. so, i wasn't mad when the sherm head dissed the coast that he was from cause he was a walking contradiction. biggie smalls, jay-z, nas, rakim, big daddy kane, ghostface killah, raekwon, lil wayne(i would have left him off a couple of years ago but he spits too much fire nowadays)andre 3000, talib, eminem and common are just a few who rhymes better than pac. i could probably add a few more if i gave it more thought but thats enought to prove my point. point is, pac was a good rapper, veiwed by some to be a great rapper, but he was far from the best! if you wanna overrate a dead rapper, put Big L's rhymes over some nasty beats instead of those garbage beats they gave him back in '95. Get Money & Stay Grimey!

biggie, jay-z, nas, ghostface killah, raekwon, rakim, big daddy kane, slick rick...enough said. no need to continue. the east coast has more rappers who are better than 2pac than the entire west coast has in their showcase! from '87 to '07 NY has had the freshest rhymes and the lyrical aspect of the game locked down like maximum security. california can't even keep pace with states like mississippi or alabama. if it wasn't for the south, the game couldn't floss like he does. NY won't spin his records and thats a fact. the south is running it right now and since 54% of all african americans live in the south, i think we've spoke loud & clear!

tupac had things to say until he got to Death Row. He told stories & did rasie awareness about a lot of things, but on the flip side he didnt practice what he preached. There are only a handful of rappers who used rap as a platform to get a message across & Tupac was definitely one of them until he got bailed out of jail & all of that. Don't get it twisted Tupac is nowhere near my favorite, but he was a great MC.

But if you think the west coast never had any great MC's you are sadly mistaken. While their is no doubt NY has had 90% of the greatest rappers come out of there, but LA has had some great MC's too. Just a lot smaller quantity.

You are 100% right about Pac. But you lost most of your credibility when you gave props to Lil Wayne. He is garbage.

Your ignorant sayin he's the best, your obviously a west coast fanboy from your name and the type of fanboy who wont accept the fact that there are alot of emcees who are better than 2pac, think about it... if 2pac didnt get caught up in all the controversy, the east vs west and he didnt get shot... you wouldnt be sayin he's the best ever.
2pac is way overrated, for the simple fact that he's dead. Most people who say 2pac is the best first heard of him on 'changes'
He was a great rapper, im not takin that away from him but he was more great for the intentions of his lyrics rather than his actual skill (if that makes sense :S)

2pac isn't overrated. Alot of people just act like they like him but really they only know like 10 of his songs. Everyone knows him but not all his songs. B.I.G. put his words together like no one else but pac talked about real stuff and to me is the best. I've heard over 100 of his songs and theres not really any of his songs I dont listen 2. The best can never be overrated.

Never ending argument!!! Opinions are like assholes......everyone has one!! there is only two types of music good and bad. I think that Pac made real good music, Deep and poetic. Biggie was a great story teller with an impecable flow. I am a pac guy because I relate to his subject matter. Sure he is contradictory in his music but all artist as many of you are.
