Its actually a pretty good list except for the lack of love for NWA and Method Man & Ice-T are way too low & Andre 3000 & Eminem are way too high. Snoop should be higher & I dont even see Eazy-E or B-Real. aside from a few adjustments & make sure Eazy-E & B-Real are not only on the list, but in the top 25 I can live with it.

I just think MC's like Method Man, Ice-t, Snoop, Eazy-E, Dr. Dre, B-Real, MC Ren are top 25 no doubt about it. kool Moe Dee, Andre 3000, Jay-Z & slick rick are getting way too much love. But overall, taking the grand scheme of it, I guess i can live with the majority of it. Kanye West wishes he was better than all of Wu Tang minus Raekwon, Run DMC, Ice-T, Dr. Dre, MC Ren, Eazy-E, B-Real, Big Pun. And I didnt see Too short on their either? Those are 3 big ones they totally overlooked

*= not even on that top 100 list. Of course this my opinion, and I know some of you wouldnt rank some of these MC's so high & others not so low. This is just the way I feel, but I bet my top 60 is more accurate to who the real top 60 MC's are. Although its not too bad considering some patheitc rankings I have seen before.

6. Notorious B.I.G.
5. Tupac
4. Nas
3. Ice Cube

1. Rakim

my top 6 has 5 of ur rappers... even though I know Chuck D has influenced more rappers than anyone there, even Rakim and Tupac, I don't rank him there

6. Snoop Dogg/Jay-Z (yeah nowadays he's a popstar but I like him)
5. Ice Cube
4. Rakim
3. Nas
2. Notorious B.I.G.
1. Tupac

but by your list I think u must understand more of hip hop than I do...

but changing the subject for a moment, do u like Afrika Bambaataa's songs (planet rock, feel the vibe, peace love unity and having fun...)?

Tupac - great POET, excellent voice, great flow, MANY hot songs
Biggie - perfect flow, great LYRICIST, excellent voice
Nas - perfect lyricist, excellent flow, nice voice, MANY hot songs
Rakim - the best lyricist, nice voice
Ice Cube - since 1984 gangsta rapping, never changed his style, excellent voice, many hot songs, great flow

And those are basically the best to ever do it right there. i was just on another discussion board with someone about how rap today is garbage & they say, oh it just changed, blablabla. I asked him to give me in the last 10 years 1 classic rap album by someone under. Oddly, I have not heard back, strange. and Nas 6 years ago dont count, even though he was under 30, I mean a new artist in the last 10 years. amazing, how hip-hop is just as good as ever, but yet not 1 great album by a new artist in a decade.

let me see

Eminem - The Marshall Matters LP and Slim Shady LP

it's great sh*t... Eminem is no 50 Cent, he has the God given talent to rap, one of the great lyricists to touch a mic...

Rakim also said (I think it's kinda exaggerate but it's an expert guy's opinion): "If Em was black, he'd be the next Muhammad Ali"

another one I can talk about is Chuck D... he and his Public Enemy have some of the greatest protest songs in hip hop (though I think the greatest song in hip hop protesting is NWA's "Fuck The Police") and an MC who had some unbelievable skills... I think that side-to-side with Rakim, Chuck D is considered the best MC in live presentations

I can give you Marshall Mathers LP, but I think he was 30 after that. But even so Eminem is from the old school anyways. He was born the same year as B.I.G.

Ok I know you guys would come up with 1 or 2. Ok lets say there is as many as 5. Now look at the decade prior. 1987-1996, there are hundreds of classic rap albums. Thats all I was saying. Maybe you think I'm just a frustrated old man hanging on to the glory days, but the truth is I get tired of hearing the same old stuff just like anyone & I want to hear from this generation, but most of this stuff is so awful. The Game isnt bad, at least he keeps it as close as anyone to what hip-hop is suppose to be. All the genres I grew up on are either gone or commercialized out. Punk rock? commercialized, metal? gone. Hip-hop? commercialized. R&B, rap & pop are basically one category right now. I guess I'll just keep listening to Public Enemy, Rakim & Metallica doing new stuff in their 40's, lol
