I know I sure am! It's a sick and depraved hypocritical website that degrades Goths, Jews, Harry Potter Fans, Vampire Fanatics, mentally challenged people, Wiccans, Buddhists, Hindus, and many other kinds of people! This is an email I got from my sister about the website (read only if you have the courage to stand up against degradation)

" GodHatesGoths.com is apparently a lampoon web site written from an exaggerated fundamentalist Christian point of view. They present themselves as the official website of an apparently non-existent organization "Parents Against Goth" headed by a fictional character, Rev. R. G. Green. He writes: "I hope you will find much comfort in the message of hope and inspiration our website offers."

He quotes the Hebrew Scriptures (Old Testament) and its list of crimes for which the penalty is death: Witchcraft, Satanism, Divination, spell casting, acting as a medium, rebellion against one's parents, blasphemy, worshiping Gods other than Yahweh, disrespecting a member of the clergy. He implies that these prohibitions and their punishment by execution are still valid today.

He interprets the Bible as condemning to Hell all Buddhists, Goths, Hindus, Jews, Satanists, Wiccans, as well as children who die young or individuals who are challenged mentally. Aborted fetuses will also "burn in Hell."

They conclude:

"GOD ALSO DETESTS RETARDS. DOWN SYNDROME, CEREBAL [sic] PALSY, THALIDOMIDES [sic], DWARFISM, SPINA BIFIDA, AND OTHER CREATURES SPASTIC RETARDATIONS ARE REPULSIVE TO GOD. THE BIBLE STATES QUITE CLEARLY THAT THESE TWISTED LIMBLESS MONSTERS SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED ANYWHERE NEAR A CHURCH, AS THEY ARE UNCLEAN AND REPULSIVE TO GOD. THEY ARE AN ABOMINATION. THEY HAVE MINDS OF SUCH A REPROBATE NATURE THAT THEY ARE GIVEN TO SEXUALLY GRATIFYING THEMSELVES IN PUBLIC, AND ARE NOTHING MORE THAN SLOBBERING STAMMERING ANIMALS. WHY SHOULD THEY GET THE BEST CARE? GET GRANTS TO BUILD RAMPS FOR THEM? WHEELCHAIRS? PREFERENTIAL TREATMENT? IF GOD DID NOT INTEND THEM TO WALK, LET THEM CRAWL LIKE THE SNAKES THEY ARE."

"GOTHS ARE PROUD OF THEIR SIN, PROUD TO PARADE AROUND LIKE SICK HALLOWEEN FREAK-SHOWS, PROUD TO DEGRADE THEIR BODIES WITH TATTOOS AND PIERCINGS, PROUD TO ENGAGE IN FILTHY SEXUAL PERVERSIONS, AND IN THAT PRIDEFUL STATE THEY CANNOT REPENT - YOU CANNOT REPENT OF SOMETHING YOU'RE PROUD OF. PRIDE IS ONE OF THE 7 ABOMINABLE SINS WHICH ARE HATED BY GOD."

"THE GOTHS' ONLY HOPE IS TO HAVE THE UNAMBIGUOUS TRUTH PREACHED TO THEM, AND PERHAPS GOD WILL SOFTEN THEIR HEARTS AND GRANT THEM REPENTANCE TO DEPART FROM THEIR SIN AND NAME THE NAME OF CHRIST. NOT VERY LIKELY, THOUGH, SINCE GOD HAS GIVEN UP ON THEM. HE HAS ABANDONED THEM. HE SHALL MOCK THEM WHEN THEY SUFFER, AND LAUGH AT THEIR DEMISE. WHEN A GOTH DIES, GOD LAUGHS."
This is bullcrap, I wanna hear what others have to say on the subject. All beleivers of this insane cult of haters don't reply, just move on.

Why I have to say is this: It's a J-O-K-E. Look it up. That site is satirical and meant to poke fun at the kind of intolerance you are railing against. Think of it as the kind of thing Stephen Colbert or John Stewart might have done.

Don't believe me? Allow me to direct your attention to the content of their disclaimer page at http://godhatesgoths.com/disclaimer.html

"...The Godhatesgoths website, Parents Against Goth Movement and Gods Hammer Baptist Church are complete works of fiction. It is a satire/parody. No worries; they got me too the first time I checked out the site. I'm sure there are others here who spent some time pissed off about godhatesgoth.com before finding out the true purpose of it.

Personally, I've considered getting a t-shirt just to make a point about how much society seems to enjoy having a new minority to kick around. Every time people stand up to defend a minority of any kind, the hatemongers just move on to those who seem undefended. Goths just happen to be the flavor of the current decade. The favorite targets were Rap and Hip-Hop culture in the '90s, Punks in the '80s, Hippies in the '70s, Beatniks in the '60s, and African Americans in the '50s, with gay people a recurring favorite throughout this time period.

godhatesgoths.com is satirical. This means that the people who created the site are, in effect, dressing up like Goth-hating bigots as a means of making fun of people who actually think like this. The humor is in the over-the-top presentation of obviously outrageous viewpoints.

In the United States, there is a long history of this kind of humor. It is commonly applied to issues and individuals of a political nature, although social issues have also served as fertile ground for some truly biting humor. The most recent examples are The Daily Show with John Stewart and The Colbert Report with Stephen Colbert.

Um...humor? satire? Not everyone gets the joke, but this doesn't mean that no one sees the humor.

i really wanna know what's the point in all this?

just wasting so much time on writing so much stuff about goths, when there's really not much fun in it at all, just alot of angry people who think it's for real. these dude could have been out helping someone over the street if they wheren't so busy in making a satire website about goths.

if you gonna make a satire, please make it right and make it on film instead, written satires just aren't funny in any way.

I thought the "point" was self evident, but oh well...

Just because you do not appreciate the humor in something like this doesn't make it a waste of time. It also surprises me that you would judge someone else based on your personal standards of what constitutes an effort to "help" people. Comedians have been making social commentary, and helping to effect social change, since ancient Greece. Their is a effort every bit as legitimate as an opinion column in a newspaper or a protester holding a sign.
if you gonna make a satire, please make it right and make it on film instead, written satires just aren't funny in any way.
"Make it right"? Really? You seriously think that there is only one way to make a "true" satire, that film is the only medium where this is possible? I'll remmebr that the next time I watch The Daily Show or The Simpsons, or read a political cartoon, or...you get the idea, don't you? Funny is in the eye of the beholder, and not everyone sees the world in exactly the same way as you or I do. Different tastes do not mean that they are inferior tastes.

They could have at least put the disclaimer on the front page so that they don't get people all worked up thinking that is what the website really thinks about Goths and such.

The whole point of stuff like this is to galvanize people, to make them aware not just that this kind of thing exists, but that this thought process IS idiotic and narrow-minded. It holds up a mirror to the fools who think like this and turns them into objects of ridicule.

Did this site remind you that there really are people out there who think like this? Did it get under your skin and make you more apt to proactively work to counter the lies and misinformation this kind of thinking utilizes to spread itself? Good. This means that the site, and its brand of comedy, did its job.

Did I laugh when I first saw this site? Nope; I was outraged as well. The more I read, the more I said to myself, "They REALLY believe THAT?!" The deeper I got into the site, the crazier their beliefs became. Then, suddenly, I went, "Oh, c'mon! That can't be for real!", so I went to the "About Us" section and read about the origins of the site. That's when I got my laugh. I laughed at myself at being so gullible, then I laughed at the fact that there were idiots out there going, "Yeah! Those godless, baby-eating Goths! I KNEW they were evil!" The site paints that way of thinking as so backward and ignorant that the joke gets turned around. You begin to giggle at the people who actually agree with the site.

Far from promoting this way of thinking, it shows that thought process for what it is: pure stupidity. Even if a person doesn't read the origins of the site, all you can do is shake your head at people like those portrayed on the site.

ah yes, some people like to just scrub the surface and not think deeper into it, and now that i did like you, i find myself laughing as well.

sad thing is there are some people who do like me and don't understand that nothing about this is thrue, but instead of being angry about it, these people like to make fun of people like us, not in funny kind of way but in an humiliating kind of way.

one time i was called a vegan! yeas!!! a vegan, what does really that have to do with goths???

i believe that was the result of people actually believing in stuff like this.
