Have you ever made something yourself? Do you have any ideas for projects to make yourself? If so...discuss it here!

[I really hope this thread gets some discussion going on in this forum!]

I actually plan on making a tutu skirt myself soon. I'm just trying to decide on the color accents for it. Red and purple, or neon green, or neon pink/blue, or silver or white.

I am also gonna finish my spiderweb umbrella soon. Or at least I'm hoping. And DIY could be as simple as making a bracelet. In fact it is!

I don't even have the patience to make a necklace lol unless somebody's there that's going to do it with me. But other than that I wouldn't spend my time on it unless I'm really really really bored.

Oh. I just spent the better part of my day today just altering stuff. I made one of my skirts more comfortable to wear and less restricting. And I also did one of my umbrellas up as a spiderweb-ish umbrella. It could look better, but its ok for now. I do want to drape lace over it though. Yea, it snowed about 2 feet here, and I'm sick so getting out was impossible and unlikely. Not to mention I called out of work because I couldn't get there.

What kinds of things did you have in mind?

Well I do have a new idea [oh lord, here we go] for a parasol.[As if I don't have enough as is. I need to start selling them!] I did have a few ideas for jackets and the like, but I need a new sewing machine to make them.

Nicccce! Lord & Lady! I do love parasols, would love to see your work. We, my "family" and I, make all kinds of shit. Pretty much you name it and we make it. From clothes to our own wines and cheeses, altar pieces, makeup and lotions-well you get the pic. We like to be independent.
Right now I'm working on stage costumes for my husband and his band- having a little creative blockage actually.

I don't really buy much of anything anymore. I do a lot of gutter-goth/deathrocker stuff, but I made a pair of steampunk goggles that were probably my magnum opus. I also make alot of patches, some fettish gear, I've even done some cyber gear.
Anything that interests you I'll explain how as best as I can.
Oh I also hand sew all my stuff because I'm too cheap to invest in a sewing machine.

I make a lot of my own stuff, including my dress but i usually take something that's already made and alter it to my taste which usually includes a bit of sparkle or something metal at least...
I go out and buy fabrics but the gothic stuff they think they are selling in stores here is far from gothic so i usually look at pics and compare things to what I like

Thats cool. I'll post pics on here sometime soon. I'd like to see some of your work too! As for the creative blockage, give it time and it'll pass. Do things that inspire you and I'm sure it'll start going away.

I concur. I like to make mine out of yarn, in my head its less of a pain in the ass to deal with. Especially if you use glue on the ends to hold them together.

Most of the things I've done have just been that too...alterations. A little bit of lace here, maybe some sparkly rhinestones there...you get the point. Half the time I tend to have a vision of what to do with the outfits, but usually it gets warped 5 times before I'm finished.

I think of things to do but my brain and hands don't work together when it comes to making things sometimes.
The idea's there but making it's a nightmare so I'm guessing we have the same problem?

Its like it gets changed 5 times from my original vision before I finish. It always looks really good when I'm done though. I'll post pics if I can when I'm done. Its not that my hands don't work with my brain, I'm just preoccupied by classes and such.
