Gospel Singer Rambo Dies in Car Accident

I was introduced to Southern Gospel listening to The Rambos and learned to sing their songs.
While I know she is now in the place she read about, sang about and preached about, somehow I will miss her terribly, I guess we all will.
My sincere condolances to Reba, Buck and the extended family.
She's with her mother teaching angels how to sing!
Thank you God for giving Dottie Rambo to us but for a little while!

dottie was a powerful force in not only gospel music, butwas a trend setter for all musicians and songwriters. she made an impact on everyone who has heard her songs. Dottie's songs were powerful and sang of the Lord Jesus and her love for him. She may not have had an absolutely wonderful voice however, she was sincere, honest and warm. She will be terribly missed here on earth however, the angelic choir now has another menber, one who will take her rightful place leading them. Goodbye, Dottie, We'll see you again when it's time.

While one would wonder why God would allow such a tragedy - to have one of his "saints" taken in such a senseless way - He reminded me that it was merely her appointed time to go. She was ready... and she must have heard the words, "Well done, my good and faithful servant." Quite a remarkable transition for her, I am sure. Our thoughts and prayers are for those who are left behind.... for this moment. May God oomfort those who are hurting, but let us together celebrate her graduation!

No greater gospel songwriter ever to pen songs, and beautiful voice to sing them. From the early years when she preached and sung with Buck and Shirley Cohren, then later with daughter, Reba...this great lady left a great legacy of gospel music!!!(and a fine guitarist as well)

The first time I heard the Rambos was on Gospel Singing Jubilee. Their songs touched me in a way that I can't express yet I knew I had to learn them.
Dottie low vibriant voice would give me chils as I listen to her sing under the anointing. She had that special way of touching everyones heart that she came in contact with. Her goal was to always share the 'Old Old Story of Jesus and His Love' to whoever would listen.
Reba, Donny and family, know that you are in my prayers. Rejoice for she is finally seeing the 'Lights of Home' for it 'Hometime' for her.
Someday we'll see Dottie again and she'll be ready to teach us a lot of new songs with heaven's choir backing her up. It will be grand.
Now it seems I can hear Janet Paschel singing,'Another Soilders Coming Home'.
You'll be loved and missed but your songs will live on forever in the hearts of men and women.

The worlds loss is Heavens Gain. Somebody was needed to write good music in heaven I guess. I never saw her in person, but the music spoke volumns about the kind of person she was. You can't write songs like she did and not be inspired by God.

Can you imagine the great time Dottie is having with the likes of Fanny Crosby, all the songwriting giants who have gone on before and with old friends like Vestal & Howard? I kinda think God had all of this planned. In reading her biography, Dottie took her journey into service for the Lord by leaving her Kentucky home by bus (I presume)...and wouldn't you know that God sent her onto the greatest journey of her life by another bus. It was no "accident" for Him...just a way of transporting her onto the next concert engagement! Thanks, Dottie..for blessing our lives and to our Heavenly Father for His sharing you with us. May the Holy Spirit comfort Reba and family during this time. Your Mama was a giant.

Sorrow may be knocking on the door but let's remember where she is now, that's our home too...
May we celebrate her life and all she contributed to ours. Such angelic harmony from the Rambos, what a blessing they were to us all with so many wonderful songs. She touched my heart.

GOD gave you. I have a few of your albums. I
saw you one time in Hampton VA. I sang with a
group and we did a few of your songs. I know you have suffered a lot, You are now home the place

I was so deeply saddened when I learned of Dottie Rambo's tragic homegoing; Dottie was always one of my all-time favorite southern gospel songwriters and I'll miss her so much. I remember her group from the 1960's and 70's... The Rambos when they were on the HeartWarming record label. Even though now Dottie is no longer living; I'll always continue to collect vinyl records from The Rambos!( so far I believe I have 3 albums by The Rambos!) Dottie, you were truly a beautiful singer and I honestly believe that God gave you a beautiful talent to write some of the most beautiful and inspirational songs in southern gospel music. Of all the songs that Dottie has written I believe that ''Tears Will Never Stain The Streets Of That City'' was always one of my all-time favorite songs; only because the song always spoke of that glorious city... HEAVEN!! Dottie, even though you're no longer here on this earth, you'll always have a place in my heart...
FOREVER!!. My forever friends, The Allen Family from Kalamazoo, Michigan recorded one of Dottie Rambo's songs '' I Call Him Lord'' on their
'' COME TO THE KING LIVE!'' DVD and to just hear The Allen Family perform that beautiful song makes me think of The Rambos! In fact, I honestly believe that they even had a similar sound just like The Rambos! Dottie, we're all looking forward to seeing you in Heaven some glorious day!!.

Being raised in the United Pentecostal Church International (UPCI) from the time I was 11 (I just had my fifty-fifth birthday!), I "grew up" on the Rambos and their wonderful, country-style three-part harmony. I only mention "my" church background and organization because few people outside of the upci or few people younger than fifty probably realize that Dottie (not Buck) was an ordained minister, holding license with the upci. I believe that Dottie did much to promote NOT the upci, but to promote a "glowing" presence that was so evident of the supernatural Spirit of God. Some just knew by looking and listening that, "This MUST be the power of the Holy Ghost!".

Looking back now at the news clips I have seen recently regarding Dotties life, early career and death I was warmed by the rememberance of those "huge, log rolled curls" that made up the common hairstyle that the "holiness" women wore.

It is only my opinion, but "those holiness women" like Vestal Goodman, Labreeska Hemphill, Dottie and others just seemed to "have something that the others didn't have". It wouldn't take a "spiritual" person to actually SEE the "glow" on those ladies who ministered through music with power and conviction. It wouldn't take an emotional being to feel the shivers and hair standing on end when they ministered in song either.

A beautiful, pure spirit has now taken flight from the earth to the heavens.

Reba was a United Pentecostal - Jesus name, holiness gal, way back in my days as a child. She was awsome then and remained that way, she is now with God! Would people judge and say she was lost for compromising her holiness standards later on in her life and therfore may have been lost? Yes, MAYBE the UPCI's would say it - they have a very strict standard and do not sway or compromise the modest and holiness ways. In the beautiful way Dottie sang her inner spirit flowed so sweetly, the Holy Ghost revealed itself through Dottie, and she was was so loved by all! God Bless you Dottie, and God Bless your soul.
