Country singers begin campaign against mountaintop coal removal

A group of music figures has begun a campaign against mountaintop coal removal. The campaign, Music Saves Mountains, is sponsored by the Natural Resources Defense Council and the Gibson Foundation.

Do these people have any idea what coal does for West Virginia economy, I bet not! and the work that goes into reclaiming a mine site, I bet most of these people can't even distinguish a reclaimed site from a untouched mountain after a few years of new growth, my company had to prove this to Kathey Mattea by way of helicopter and once she seen the before and after she changed her tune. Heck Kid Rock is a big Hank Williams Jr fan who sings about West virginia coal mining in his songs (a country boy can survive) someone just fed these people a line of B.S and they don't have a clue.

Me too! Actually I WAS a Kid Rock fan, I think I'll burn all my CD's of his and any other artist I find in my collection that is a Anti-Coal Supporter. maybe they can afford to have their electric bill double but the average american can not.

Sorry that you feel this way. But since you don't beleive in our way of life and you sing about living in the mountians. I don't beleive that you really understand what it takes to survive in todays society. We are all not rich we can't jet around the country doing what ever the hell we fill like. Some people actually have to work. But some rich idiots (some i used to be huge fans of) think that because they live on a high horse they can tell other people what to do to survive. So you live on a 1000 acre ranch or in a big mansion. i wander how much destruction was done to the land in which you live at. How do you sleep at night? We are taking our opportunities that are given to us and you think that because you don't like coal mining that you can stop an entire civilization because your rich and you don't like it. i beleive that anyone who has ever sang about coal mining or the applichians that has earned 1 cent from their songs or from people from the applichians should return each penny. You all have broken this nation by becoming hippocrits.
