Chick-Fil-A Backtracks After President Dan Cathy Says "Guilty as Charged" On Anti-Gay Stance

Jul 19, 2012 Full story: au.ibtimes.com 16

On Monday, Chick-Fil-A president Dan Cathy gave an interview to the Baptist Press stating that he was "guilty as charged" that his company is anti-gay and donates money to organizations opposing marriage equality.

On Thursday, the restaurant posted a statement on Facebook that looks a lot like damage control. The statement proclaims that Chick-Fil-A will treat customers of every "belief, race, creed, sexual orientation, or gender" with respect.

To me it sounds like the "Company" is trying to have it both ways. All they will accomplish this way is to make everybody angry.

As far as I'm concerned just say no to them and their fat product.

We'll leave the "marriage debate" to the politicians while we also give to anti-gay groups.
Sorry Chic's, that doesn't leave you "out" of the politics.

It was a comment on the pretty obvious monetary motivations of the business in the article.

Typical fast-food christians. Leviticus forbids wearing garments of mixed fibers, but I’d bet a stack of bibles the employee uniforms are like most others, a cotton-polyester blend. Hypocritical idiots.

And there are 8 types of marriage listed in the bible. Yet they claim only one of the 8 is valid.

The BAPTIST Press Interview...

Some have opposed the company's support of the traditional family. "Well, guilty as charged," said Cathy when asked about the company's position.

"We are very much supportive of the family -- the biblical definition of the family unit. We are a family-owned business, a family-led business, and we are married to our first wives. We give God thanks for that.

"We operate as a family business ... our restaurants are typically led by families; some are single. We want to do anything we possibly can to strengthen families. We are very much committed to that," Cathy emphasized.

"We intend to stay the course," he said. "We know that it might not be popular with everyone, but thank the Lord, we live in a country where we can share our values and operate on biblical principles."

Follow the money.

They give millions to groups that use that money to make sure gay people are denied equal treatment under the law, and even work to criminalize our relationships. Using the law to harm others needlessly may not be hate, but it sure looks like it.

Cathy's interview only called attention to what the Gay Community has been saying the last couple of years, this company is "donating" millions of dollars to an assortment of causes called "pro-family", but seem to spend most of their time and money being nothing but anti-gay. The Cathy family has a right to their opinions and to a certain extent, a right to run their little company according to their choice of "biblical principles". We however retain the right to criticize said opinions and to question what is being offered up as a choice of "biblical principles" by an obviously bigoted billionaire and his Christian fiefdom selling chicken to sheep. The hate is not in his words but his actions, using company money as a tax dodge to donate to "charitable" groups which spend their time making life as miserable as legally possible for people who are gay. By his fruits we know him and what we know doesn't come across as all that Christian.

Well, I for one am angry. It now takes me over an hour and a half to get a meal, this is ridiculous. I love Chick Fil A but waiting in a line circling the building is ridiculous. Christians sure must love chicken ... or hate AIDS carriers.

A link to the source would be appropriate here.

btw: "We aren't against you. We are for ourselves" has been used in other times, by other groups.

Both sides have used it in other words.
