Todd Bentley's revival in Lakeland draws 400,000 and counting

Jul 7, 2008 Full story: www.tampabay.com 34

The revival has become a worldwide phenomenon. More than 400,000 people have attended, from more than 100 countries. In his online biography, Bentley says God delivered him as a teen from a "lifestyle involving criminal activity, youth prisons, drugs, sex, satanic music and bondage." He traces his fixation on fire to the Day of Pentecost in the second chapter of Acts, when the Holy Spirit descended with tongues of fire and a mighty wind.

In the Christian blogosphere, Bentley has been demonized. Religious observers say his methods veer toward New Age mysticism and the occult. Many call him a false prophet. In any case, his style has more in common with Austin 3:16 than its biblical antecedent: It seems borrowed from Wrestlemania.

I'll bet a lot of the people attending Todd Bentley's revival were bitterly complaining last week about the Supreme Court saying child rape without murder isn't enough for the death penalty. And I'll further bet that they don't even grasp the contradiction.
I was thinking the same thing.

Don't judge Todd Bentley on his child raping past! Judge him on all the good (*) things he does now!

Probably the same people who are clamoring for the death penalty for anyone BUT Todd Bentley who commits the same awful crime.

Not everyone has a good upbringing or happy childhood. But the vast majority of people do not go around harming - never mind raping - other people's children.

While my opinion of Todd Bentley's current deeds would be no different if he weren't a convicted child rapist, there should be no question that this crime is a window into who he truly is. Buyer beware as it appears a dark, twisted soul dwells within.

Lots of mean people on this blog :(

God forgive sins - that's the whole point of Jesus' crufixion. I have read many reports and blogs about Todd Bentley. I wish people would take time to listen because one cannot make a judgment without full knowledge.

I think most people just like to criticize something, anything will do. Christians are the only group that people can talk bad about without being charged with a hate crime. Guess what, we still love ya!

Yes,

One thing I like about almost all of these posts if not all of them is simply how correct they are outside of the atheists view to throw the baby out with the bath water for he cannot and does not have any spiritual insight muchless spiritual wisdom in any biblical truth or matter.

Yes, BENTLEY is a worm, snake, deceiver, con man, and mental reprobate at best..sadly, the warnings of the end or coming to fruition..For the bible states the love of the truth will wax cold..

If simple christians had a simple zeal for God's truth these charlatans wouldn't make the front door..It is the sheep that give these wolves a place to deceive..like wolf so go the sheep, the wolf in sheep's clothing rather..

God has sent this delusion as a JUDGEMENT to all christians for not standing fast in the knowledge of Godly ordained doctrine and not testing the spirits from God's word..So as God gave Israel Saul, who died miserably so he gives us stupid christians..guy's like this worm wood Bentley and many like him.

Now the sheep are so blind they take in a tatooed, ring piecred, pedophile with no bilbical understanding and no call from God as their leader..

They have followed and are following one of the many apostates which will lead them to another gospel and jesus simply sending their souls straight to a living burning hell, for these christians did not endure with the real jesus they used to serve!!!

He would sacrifice a lesser demon to get naive idiots to worship him instead of the true god of Abraham? How can you not see that?

Far too much emphasis has been placed upon Bentley. Sure, he's controversial and frivolous, but that wouldn't prevent God from using him. Few church leaders would endorse the antics or lifestyle of Samson, yet he was entrusted with an unprecented miracle ministry-which he never took seriously until it cost him his life. Israel rejected him-we, today, would call him false, especially when he started consorting with harlots, but God called him His judge. We can become so narrow minded with our religious piety that we become Pharisees. We can become so loose in our acceptance of all things that we become gullible. The key is balance. Clearly this move needs order, reverence and sound doctrine; otherwise it will go awash to fanaticism, error and delusion. Demons can't wait for the opportunity to throw a geniune spiritual encounter into one of the aforemention in order to discredit God. Let the reader beware. For a great read, check out "A Step Into Deliverance" by T. Pugh. It's a riveting autobiography about one pastor's journey into the deliverance ministry. A real page-turner.

Isn't Todd Bentley the guy who did time for raping a little boy? But go ahead, Christian people send him your hard-earned money. He talks to angels!
That's a bit harsh. I'm a Christian. Just went to NC to see this guy in person. The moment I saw him and heard him I knew it wasn't right. We're not all weirdos and idiots you know. It's a powerful thing called discernment...all Christian's should pray for more of it!

Sometimes one must be harsh when exposing the truth.

Why would you go to see this person in the first place? Why not do research first? I'm glad you found the truth when you arrived, but how many people around you were hoodwinked by this "ex" child molester and charleton?

People calling themselves "Christians" have done a great deal of damage to this country in recent years. You should be prepared for a lot of fall-out from this. There is nothing Christ-like about many, many of the so-called Christians in this country. Nothing. In too many ways, Todd Bentley fits right in.

Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath: 20 KJV) For the wrath of man worketh not the righteousness of God. Wherefore lay apart all filthiness and superfluity of naughtiness, and receive with meekness the engrafted word, which is able to save your souls.2 But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves. 23 For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass: 24 For he beholdeth himself, and goeth his way, and straightway forgetteth what manner of man he was.

Todd Bentley he was ordained by the Revival Alliance, a group made up of prominent charismatic ministers who ordained Bentley the evangelist
http://www.charismamag.com/cms/news/archives/...

but the fact that too many of today's pastors are ordained, DO have official papers undeniably does not seem to stop 55 percent of the pastors from committing adultery, or 70 percent of the pastors falsely counseling, or practicing divorce and who knows what else?
gossiping, slandering and I too was really was surprised how many pastors I had personally met at the pastoral fellowships who did did these unacceptable bad things.

but somehow the preacher who preach one thing themselves too often do the other still too.. I too would rather see a sermon practiced over on merely preached

Speaking of false prophets, it seems to me that too many of the critics on the net can spot the phones too quickly cause they themselves are phonies... and many others as well..

WHEN I ENCOUNTER SO MANY bad people who try to abuse me, dominate over me on the net, in churches now too, actually someone they likely do not know and I have rather likely never met ,it says CLEARLY HOW FALSELY THEY THEMSELVES NOW ARE RATHER TO ME.

and have you all not noticed the void of any Bible references, quotations on the supposedly prominent professing Christian discussions internet sites and is it cause they know they are spiritual phonies, or they really do not know the Bible to be able to discuss it? or what still wrongfully ashamed of it too?

Sure God forgives all sins but there is something called humility. Once you've done something that has most likely ruined the life of a young child, why not spend your time doing whatever you can to make that child's life better than going around and fake healing a bunch of strangers. You need to look more deeply. What has he done to repent for this terrible, terrible sin. He raped a child and yet there isn't a note of somber with this guy at all.
