exactly...who gives a shit if she is? I think she made a very wise decision to get out of ccm and hopefully is pursuing something more genuine. I don't blame her for wanting to hang around a business that was more interested in publicising her every decision, personal and professional, and criticizing her unconventional approach. She was not a product of a squeaky clean christian bubble world from the time she was born, did turn into a christian pop princess, and was therefore in the ccm crosshairs. she was too different from the rest of ccm - real, genuine, transparent, honest, and amazingly talented. Probably why she's one of my favorite musicians, and the only 'ccm' labeled artist I listen to. I hope she never comes back to ccm, but I do hope I can see her playing at a local bar or cafe sometime again.

I find it odd that postings about a Christian artist like Jennifer Knapp start out so vile, but I for one am glad she's back. I hope she does come out with more albums and such soon. Having talked with her twice and seen her perform four times, what interested me was her show and the way she makes the audience feel like every gig is a livingroom performance.

I could care less about personal details of what she does on her own time and I believe more people should focus on her music and what we get from that and her concerts, rather than fencepost gossip.

Jen, you ROCK!

i want to address the above comments.

A. it's none of our business. why be so crude?
B. as sisters and brothers in jesus we are called to love, support and pray for eachother. prayer means praying for eachothers lives to help lift us up to where we need to be...ultimately, in the arms of Jesus.
C. none of us are beyond a fall ourselves. don't speculate unless the truth is told. until then, just pray for people. give love. be jesus.

well jenn, even if you are a lesbian, your struggles are no different then all of us who are merely sinners saved by grace. every single one of us is capable of falling, but unfortunately you have been placed in a situation where your struggles are public property and there for the world to question and see. i just want to say that Jesus has given you a phenomenal gift of poetry, worship, and rawness. people see that, and jesus sees that as well. i personally pray that no matter what struggles come your way, you will just know that there are those of us out there that see you for who you are, will love and support you, and remind you that ....his grace is sufficient...for YOU, for ME, for us all!

you are loved. NO MATTER WHAT!

It's funny, someone in the industry told me that 4 years ago... we all have our struggles. The CCM machine is a disgusting cash cow, but granted there are genuine hypocrites in there, as well, probably doing more for the Lord as self-professed sinners-saved-by-grace than anyone of us to throw the first stone at Jen or CCM. I don't see Christ in any of our actions towards either of them. That should disgust us even more than CCM. No matter how much I choke on the crap they put out that tends to rip off the big bands from always-5-to-ten-years-ago, even CCM preaches "out of compulsion" what Paul would commend as still being the gospel. That message has simply been tainted by greed and unethical marketing tactics like jacking up the price of cd's and merch far above what the more caring god of this world, Satan, does for his children. At least Satan lowers his prices to feed the base cravings of his children. Our corporate pseudo-Christianity doesn't really give a damn about souls, just sales.

This coming from someone who used to tour in music ministry with a band of Christians from Seattle...

God have mercy on us all, sinners.

Yeah, Jennifer Knapp is definitely a lesbian. A lot of touring cats in the "Christian" music world told me a while back. I was in a band back in the day, and while we were all Christians, had no intention of falling into "Christian" tag world but we did. Anyhow, I really don't give a sh*t if Jennifer Knapp is a lesbian or not. I'm just glad that she's being honest and leaving the "Christian" music biz, cos that entire world is complete B.S. More so than the regular music world. Anyhow, I enjoyed "The Way I Am" musically. Plus Vinnie and Tony Levin played on it?? crazy...

As a reformed :"Christian" I can tell you first hand that we are who we are, If in fact Ms. Knapp is a lesbian good for her! Be true to yourself Jennifer! We are all a bunch of Schmucks moving our pile of rocks to the other side. No one is better than the next guy and NO Religion has it a 1oo percent correct. I came out 3 years ago and every step of the way I felt God's presence in my life. The bible is not the Authority on God..He is much too great to limit to a book. A book mind you that refuses to collectively list all the scrolls found together. There are things written in it that are not followed in the christian religion so all you bunch of narrow minded "Christins need to shut up and get a life! You are not the Authority on what is right or wrong. Dare to live, Dare to be real with your selves!

She is not back. If you do research on the new live CD, you will see that it is live music from the past. I too miss her music very much and hope one day she records again. A Christian lable or secular. Remember, it is not our job to judge or gossip. Peace!

I'm sorry but someone in a forum writing that Jennifer is a lesbian doesn't make her one.

That said, he or she who is without sin cast the first stone!

Jennifer Knapp, has a great voice, and has true writing tallent. If a sinner saves someone, is that person still saved? Let's hope so, we all have been brought to Christ by sinners.

Rock on Jennifer!!

I know that not everyone who's been passing along this gossip is necessarily a Christian music fan, but for all "Christians" who are spreading this "news" because they can, CUT IT OUT.

i hope people do not buy this album. Jennifer Knapp is still a very talented artist wherever she is. she has to wait till her contract expires with gotee before she can produce new music. and please think highly of her that she is fighting against the corporate christianity that sucked her in only to lock her up to their evil devices. i do believe her contract is nearing its end and this is a final attempt to get cash from her name. obviously this was done with 'the collection 2003' all demo/studio stuff owned by Gotee.

now i do not know if she will get proceeds from this album, or if she collected on 'the collection'. i assume it was underwritten that she had to produce X number of songs and albums for the duration of the contract, as is usually the case. she has not done this, again, obviously due to the fact that she signed a piece of paper that basically took ownership of her soul.

since she signed in 97 i think she'll be realeased relatively soon. that will mean great things for her, regardless of speculations about what 'type' of life she leads now. great artists deserve great praise. cheers to Jen and hopefully she'll be back recording with a mic and pic soon.

If Jennifer was lezbo, why would she go incognito? She would be out there with all the other stupid dykes making waves about their supposed rights.

The record contract story seems plausible, and I hope that it's the case. However, what if she just got tired of the road, and the people, and the biz, and decided that she would rather just fade from the seen and live a peaceful, normal life?

AND, what if she just fell in love with a MAN, and didn't want the stupid media exploiting her entire life, so she slipped out as quietly as possible, got married, had babies, and is now a happy homemaker???
