I LOVE Janis Joplin!!!!

She and the late great Stevie Ray Vaughn are two of the BEST entertainers to come out of the Longhorn state!

I've never been a Janis Joplin fan although I did hear an inview about her a while back and they played some of her songs and I did enjoy a few of the songs--too bad I can't remember any titles of the songs so I can check out one of Janis's CDs. Very soulful songs.

Yes, they are my favorites from Texas too, and the top musical icons of the state I would say- along with Buddy Holly and to a lesser degree Willie Nelson.

Lead Belly's biography has him born in Louisiana, but that could be because of his extensive stints in that state's prisons. There is no doubt that he--at an early age--together with his family showed up in Texas at an early age. Much has to do with record keeping in the South. . .
