Some of the structure in the remnant may be internal as a result of the shockwave ploughing through an accresion disc surrounding the white dwarf. The fact that a spiral is visible indicates a possible merger of 2 white dwarves with the orbit precessing in 3 axes (disco mode).

In the case of a white dwarf collision & merger the remnant will not contain the ram stripped companion star which donated the mass and will also not contain surrounding recurrent nova shells of T pyxidis type.
