What determinds the importance of an artist that comes into this area that warrants an article in the weekend section of the News Times. All kinds of great music comes around this area that is not written about. The gentleman in this article sold alot of records in the 90's by rapping about his alleged drug use/sales. He could be some guy from Long Island who is 40 and still lives with his parents, it wouldn't make any difference in the valitity of his art. Two great artist that come to mind are Bob Dylan and Johnny Cash. They both wrote song that made great characters come to life but neither proffessed to be anything but songwriter/musicians. This article is really disapointing.

I guess the premise is that this is reality rap. My feeling is that it's alot like proffesional wrestling, where the matches are fake but when the wrestlers die from drug/steriod abuse that's real. Many of these recording artists are running cons to sell records and sometimes music journalists are the first ones to go for it.
