First, "Gay Republicans" is an oxymoron.

Second, they are delusional if they think the GOP will ever give them anything more than derision.

The Log Cabin republicans are going down with the ship along with the rest of the republican party. This party is rapidly becoming an insignificant party and this is agreed upon by many republican annalist who have been warning the GOP to drop their religious bigotry.

I saw an editorial TWO YEARS ago in which a REPUBLICAN was intensely, intensely laboring to get his party to understand this. In the editorial, he was exhorting them in strong language that some of what they're doing NEEDS TO STOP, absolutely needs to stop, if they want to make meaningful progress. Apparently his voice has been ignored.

All these republicans done is produce a climate in America where those against them are *intensely and obsessively* against them and are going to MUCH greater lengths to counter and/or sabotage *everything* they try to do. This is not the way to run a railroad; it's produced GRIDLOCK in congress, among other things, for years now.

It will get no one anywhere and will continue to lead to endless lawsuits and vitriol.

I believe that if republicans stopped their extremism, democrats would stop theirs. It really, truly, honestly *is* the republicans who *M-U-S-T* stop doing this, or else the current climate is going to continue and get worse,

and more hateful,

and more violent.

My prediction.

You can HATE, HATE, HATE, HATE gays and abortion all you want, but trying to *stop others* from living their lives is obviously, obviously creating a viciousness like little we've ever seen. People do not like being told how to live and will only fight you by *every* means they can find. No matter the level of your HYSTERICAL HATE for these things, you *MUST* learn to live and let live. I promise the republicans the viciousness will only continue *ad infinitum*. And they know this. They know this themselves.

I read a huge article about them in the Sunday LA 'Times'. They said that there is an absolute civil war going on in the republican party at this moment and it can't remain the way it is. The sensible conservatives are not buying the new fanatics and the fanatics think the more middle of the road conservatives are commies and traitors.

I really doubt if Michele Bachmann or Rick Santorum are going to be featured speakers at this convention. Too scary for independents or rational folk. They let Pat Robertson speak in 1988 and he blew it for George Bush 41's second term.
