Eric McCormack, Freddie Prinze Jr. land ABC pilots - 'Trust Me'...

There are 14 comments on the Zap2it.com story from Mar 19, 2009, titled Eric McCormack, Freddie Prinze Jr. land ABC pilots - 'Trust Me'.... In it, Zap2it.com reports that:

Eric McCormack is returning to network TV in a comedy pilot at ABC -- which probably means bad news for his cable dramedy, TNT's "Trust Me." He's the headliner in the latest round of pilot casting at the Alphabet, which also includes Freddie Prinze Jr.

Is it just me or are the US networks tired of unproven shows that they have to go out to UK, Australia & other parts of the world to adapt proven series here?

That's the theory behind all those awful remakes.

In reality, the executives feel they can't come up with good shows (no fault of theirs of course) and assume all shows will fail. They then want to be able to say "but it was a hit in [fill-in-the-country] when the show has failed.

The funny thing is that rash of remakes has still to produce a single true hit (and no Ugly Bety and The Office are not really hits).

TNT sabotaged Trust Me and went so far as to get front page articles in the trades about how poorly the premiere did.

It's too bad because it's actually the only show I watch on TNT.

I'd be curious about the behind-the-scenes politics that led TNT to sabotage a show even before it aired.

I knew Eric McCormacks current TNT was a real loser! So-so ratings!
But this new show. There is no hope at all for this show if there is a Scrubbs connection. Forget it!

Eric McCormack's multi-cam sounds like a winner for ABC.

I found Trust Me to be excellent.

Sadly TNT decided before it aired to pull most of its marketing and then decided to torpedo it in the press to make sure it would not come back. Now, to add insult to injury, it is programming it in two-hour blocks without telling anyone.

Trust Me is the best self-sabotage story since ABC destroyed its hit Women's Murder Club because of behind-the-scenes tensions.

Prinze dosen't seem to do well with comedy, he should try doing a drama preferability not a cop one. We have enough of those.

He's not a very good actor. That's why he doesn't do all that well.

I am not interested in anything with Prinze. I do not like his attitude.

After all, he's a better actor than his wife. ;)[ducks to avoid unfresh produce again]

I looked forward to "Trust Me". I waited anxiously for it, because I wanted to see Eric MacCormack in it. When it finally started, I waited and waited for something to happen, and it just never did. The biggest clunker of all time.

Eric, please get script approval next time. Your talents deserve better than this.

I entirely disagree.:)

I thought this was one of the rare good new shows this year.

TNT for some reason decided to torpedo it and declined to promote it and started badmouthing it in the press as soon as it was released.

I'd love to know what happened behind the scenes.

Also, I am quite wondering what you were expecting from this show to say that "nothing happened" as the scripts were quite eventful.
