You so called church people are quite sickening in my opinion - the one adage tht comes to my mind is "Judge not lest ye be judged". I have known Edyth and her husband Mike for many years and have always been impressed by the dedication and the love that he has shown to the community and to the church. Why else would my wife have chosen Edyth to baptize her and help her seek her own individual path to salvation. Any true disciple of Christ realizes that witnessing for the lord is accomplished in ways within and outside of the church physical. If you propose that you are members of the true Christian faith then you should be acting as Christ would. Shame on you for allowing your political views to conflict with your own Christian selves. To publically slander a caring devited woman in this manner is truly among one of the lowest acts you could perpetrate. One of the greatest injustices in this world is that shallow minded conservatives like yourselves have tried to claim the Christian faith as a "Republican only" tenet, and persecuting anyone in this "Limbaugh like fashion" who doesn't toe the line of your beliefs. Love they neighbor and care for him, thats all this administration has done- constantly trying to better the lives of those who are less fortunate than yourselves, yet you have been blinded by this earthly propaganda, and refuse to act as Christians should. The faith is not about focusing on yourselves! Edyth I am sorry that your parish has to endure the narrow minded bigotry these individuals have displayed. I can only hope that the majority of your parishoners are more faith driven and less childish and self righteous than the posters here have displayed themselves to be! God Bless you for all the wonderful things you have done and continue to do. You are always in my and Linda's thoughts and prayers. I wish we could be closer to support you and Mike in all your endeavors!
John Markas
So your beliefs are that if you have conservative values and support the Republican Party you are blinded by earthly propaganda? Where is that stated in the Bible? It appears that you and their church needs to step back and re-evaluate your reasons for attending church. It is not about which party you are affiliated with nor who is friends with who or who you like. The purpose for going to church is to worship the Lord and give thanks for what he has sacrificed for us. You sir, are pointing fingers at others and judging them the same as people inside their church are judging Edyth, so you are no better qualified to condemn people than they are. I can see why people are leaving the church for there are so many distractions that there is no way that you could possibly go there and worship God.

She's done what to herself? She's done nothing but care for all those around her. YOU are the one who has made themselves look like an idiot!
"Her far out Views"? I guess if she had went the other way politically you wouldn't have a problem. Looks to me like you are the one who wants to bring politics into the church, but only those political views that you believe in (straight wing republican..maybe?)
Here's a quote I'm sure you will love: "There are a whole lot of religious people in America, including the majority of Democrats. When we abandon the field of religious discourse -- when we ignore the debate about what it means to be a good Christian or Muslim or Jew; when we discuss religion only in the negative sense of where or how it should not be practiced, rather than in the positive sense of what it tells us about our obligations toward one another; when we shy away from religious venues and religious broadcasts because we assume that we will be unwelcome -- others will fill the vacuum. And those who do are likely to be those with the most insular views of faith, or who cynically use religion to justify partisan ends."----

you people disgust me, and your hypocritical nonsense is the reason i stopped going to church and lost complete faith in humanity. i don't need the bullshit that comes with your organization to know how to lead a good life. and for that matter, if "hell" really does exist, you charlatans will be chin-high in hellfire. to persecute such an upstanding citizen who reaches out to those in need is an ABOMINATION, your racism is 100 years past due, and your lack of education is very apparent, which may help to explain most of this nonsense...take a real hard look at yourselves, do you see the love of god in your heart? or do you feel the devil himself tickling your feet with his flames? you think you can sit behind a computer and judge people until the cows come home, but remember the maker is omniscient, he knows every key you hit, and he sees the hate and ignorance in your goddamned hearts. burn in hell.

Watch how you pick on an 8 year old. If you want to get that personal you can see me face to face. My child DOES behave in church and has the high regards to BEHAVE anywhere she goes. You have nothing else to do but try to put down a child? I suggest that you find something else to get on and leave her alone. You are pathetic!

Edyth's views are the same as those of Christ. The views she expresses in the pulpit are those of love, not politics. She has never preached politics and never will. She has her political opinions as we all do but they are not expressed from the pulpit.
If caring for others, helping the poor and downtrodden, expressing love for others and objecting to bigotry are your idea of being far out and political, I pity you. You clearly have missed the message of Christ.

Dear Former Member. First of all, I have no idea who you are. I wish you would make yourself known so that we can bring some reconciliation to how I hurt you. I honestly wish that we could, but I don't know who you are or how to get in touch with you except through this column. Let me first say, that if I hurt you I am sorry. I never try to intentionally hurt anyone and I have NEVER hated anyone for having different political or theological views from myself. I know I will be knocked in this column by someone who will call me hypocritical, but I want you to know that I am speaking from my heart and really hope that if I have hurt you that badly that we can, through Christ, bring healing. My faith tells me that not only can happen, but it is what God desires and I am willing to work with you through Him. The one request I do have is that you please not bring my child into this discussion. She is precious in the sight of God and at 8 years old has no beef with you. She is a loving and kind person and does not deserve it. I know your conscience will confirm that fact. Again, please contact me at the church. If I am not there, please leave a message so that we can resolve the hurt and move on for healing and peace. Know that I am sincere in my request. With the hope of Christ, Edyth

I didn't hurt you. I have never set foot in that church. If you are as much of a christian as you say you are, you would approach those with whom you have problems in a calm and sound manner and try to work them out, instead of anonymously posting B.S. on the internet.

Who are the pets????? We love her Obama sign on her car how much the democract paying her?????? But the best of luck to them they will tell you it all in the name of the Lord. Thats the way churches are and when they get off track. Please come out to Lenoir Community Church we stay on the word of God.
I have never "made money" from the church. The rest of the salaries are clearly stated and voted on by the congregation after session approval. If there are truly unhappy former members or current members that would like to have their voices heard then there are more appropriate ways to do so. Talking about such things through post like this only reinforces the idea that Christians are judgmental. Edyth is a great Pastor. She is first and foremost a servant of Christ. Anyone that knows her, knows this. Politics are not a part of her preaching. This is totally irrelevant but, I am a registered republican. I did not vote for Obama and never felt that anyone at church desired me to. I must be one of her pets because anytime that I have needed to talk to her she has been there for me and my family. If it were not for her willingness to council me I would most likely be another divorce statistic. There are so many people in this world that need the Hope that is only found in Jesus Christ. Go out and spread the Gospel, not gossip.
