Politics Staff Feature

From the Huffington Post:

"I think the world is changing and it's becoming less and less of an issue and I think it shouldn't be long now," Clooney told E! Online at the Critics' Choice Awards.
The actor called legal gay marriage "the final leg of the Civil Rights movement."

Clooney's claim is supported by a 2011 Gallup poll, which showed that for the first time in history, a majority of Americans (53%) favor legal gay marriage. And support is strongest among young people age 18-34: 70% support gay marriage.

Your take: Is Clooney right - is legal gay marriage inevitable?

Actually, he's an Oscar winning actor, winner of 56 other awards and nominated for 106 awards.

How many have you been nominated for? And how many did you win?

People line up to kiss HIS ass (he's not my type) has a reputation in the industry as being very loyal to his friends and very generous to other actors. True, he's a Democrat as are most in the industry, but he also has a reputation for being very astute.

He's probably right in his assessment and I disagree with him re his position. You, on the other hand, are just an idiot.

I lost a lot of respect for George Clooney in the past 24 hours because I just watched his movie on TV,'The American.' Dullest, most boring, quizzical and puzzling show I have EVER seen. Nothing but nice scenery and Clooney climbing up and down the stone steps of a small Italian village where he shoots people occasionally amid silence and consternation. A sour puss even when he is in the bed with a prostitute. Now, what were you saying about George Clooney's opinion on gay marriages. Who cares?

He just won a Golden Globe for Best Actor. Now what were you saying about his dull performances? And do you imagine he, or anybody else who matters, will lose a minute of sleep about your uninformed opinion? Do you fantasize that anybody cares what you think of his acting skills, especially in light of his recent award? Who cares?

And what I was saying (which was clearly stated so that even a moron like yourself could understand) was that he's probably right and I disagree with his position.

And his opinion matters no more than our own, less in fact.

True. But people listen to his opinions because people ASK for his opinion. Whether you fantasize that makes his opinions matter less is a commentary on you, not him or his opinions.

You are both right. George Clooney is sooooooo good looking, so charming, so sexy. OMG. He's like Cary Grant or Clark Gable. But he never reached his acting potential, most of his movies are really bad, super boring. Syriania was soooooo bad, Up In The Air was not good writing, not great acting. He is like Brad Pitt in that they are so sexy and good looking but neither of them are great actors. If Brad Pitt was not that good looking, he would never have gotten all of the movie roles he got. I like the ones like Kevin Spacy, ones who can really act. But, George is sooooo hot. I mean seriously. But he's not a great actor.

He's right, of course, as we can tell from the gains made by gay rights and gay marriage just in the last 10 years. DADT has also gone the way of the dodo, with no problems to date. Anti-gay bigotry will eventually be relegated to unmoderated discussion boards and the scrawlings if imbeciles in back alleys.

Good riddance!

So his performance in a film, in a FICTIONAL role, somehow impugns his ability to hold an intelligent opinion about gay marriage?

You seem distanced from reality.

Well, he's not very good. He's always disappointing. He is so good looking and charming, I wish he was a good actor. His movies are always so disappointing. She's right about that. It's like I said about Brad Pitt. He's not a great actor. They are like the pretty boys of Hollywood who get roles based on their looks whereas someone like Russel Crow or Kevin Spacy are not pretty boys but they can do all kinds of different roles and do them so well. But, George is definitely the Hollywood "it" boy. He is so hot. But his movies are boring.

George Clooney is speaking for an industry that is morally bankrupt and has been for some time.
