Are you really that much of an idiot? Francis Cabot Lowell was a man who played an integral role in Lowell's Industrial Revolution. BTW - had he been a woman, the name would be spelled Frances. Dope!

Good luck to Micky, Dickie, Lowell and all involved in the movie!

Dick Eklund paid the price for his mistakes.I know from seeing him working in the Gym with fighters that he is one of the BEST trainers and fight conditioners in the area..his knowledge is old school.I have seen a side of Dickie working with kids keeping them off the streets and working hard to get in shape. He is no Saint for sure but we all have our demons.Plus without Eklund the movie would be another Rocky. We need his antics to bring another side to the Fighter.

I don't particularly like boxing, but I want to see this movie for the local angle. Seeing Hastings St in the trailer was a real kick, as it's my old neighborhood when I lived in Lowell.

I should have been cast as Charlene Fleming. I know all about getting in fights and druggin it up. That Amy Adams plays Princeses and Nuns and Cooks in movies. I play Mean Girls and Addicted Girls in my Movies. The Part of Charlene should have been mine. I am so Sad BOO HOO.......I should have been a contender for the Part of Charlene.

LOL, you have no clue what you are talking about. Before you put someone down maybe you should actually know who they are first.

Good Choice you made me lol. Hey, did Rick Farrel's An Evening With Mickey Ward that was supposed to be held a Merrimack College ever take place? I never heard anything else about it after the initial story came out.
Original Script

The movie trailer looks pretty good but they tweaked the orignal script and I think that could be detrimental to the actual script written because they formatted it to fit the Micky and Dicky angle.

In the original script the Dickie character fights a big name fighter in the 70's and he's doing ok until his trunks fall down and everyone sees him wearing woman's underwear. Today if that happened no one could care as long as you could fight but back in the 70's that wasnt acceptable behavior. So the other guy takes advantage of this and knocks the Dickie character out cold. Micky's character is very young but he doesnt understand what all the fuss is about because they share the same room together because times are tough and his brother says women's underwear is comfortable.

The movie then fast forwards to the mid 1980's when Mickys character has also disgraced himself in the ring because he lost to a robot from Japan named Tomatayo Kan (look it was the 80's). His brother told him not to do it but Mr. T and Dolph Lungdren were booked and he needed the money.

So both guys end up working doing construction and they go out for a few beers at a local watering hole after screwing around at work all day hammering nails into each others foreheads. So they are sitting at the bar and a bunch of girl scouts come in and you guessed it, they are looking for the Dickie guy because he stole one of their daisy girl scout membership pins the day before because he thought it would look good on his purse. A huge donny brook erupts and one of the girls sees Micky's character and says he is a boxer so one of them hits him with a lemonade cookie(shortbread cookie with a tangy lemon icing), which isnt that bad but the tangy icing gets under his eyeball blinding him and his fighting career is kaput.

Fast forward to the 90's and the Micky guy is down on his luck until he meets a dwarf at the Highland Tap who lives in the bathroom behind the toilet. You would think that someone would have noticed him before but remember this was the Tap, and no one would have really noticed anyway because they were either too hammered or hitting on a mop head.

The dwarf recognizes him and starts to train him but because he cant see anymore he hides in his jock strap and peeks out of his trunks and gives the Micky character directions. Kind of of like that dwarf that sits on top of that mental defective's head in Mad Max Beyond the Thunderdome except not on his head but on his crotch.

Needless to say Micky gets the big fight and he wins with the help of his little friend who hides in his jock strap. Everyone is happy and Micky buys his brother a moped so he can ride around downtown showing off his girl scout patches.

Unfortunately, Micky's character buys a steam roller for his paving company but one sad day he runs right over the dwarf squashing him because this steam roller turned into a transformer (sci-fi connection) Now this is the Sixth Sense moment so hold on to your hats because when he inspects the dwarfs remains he realizes he's not human at all........ but evolved somehow from all the crud and filth from the Highland Tap bathroom!

So our hero of the film loses his mentor the dwarf and his brother doesnt want anything to do with him because he's too busy riding his new moped. So he goes to Captain John's to drown his sorrows because the Tap has closed because the the aliens that used to hang out there went back to their planet so business dried up. So the camera pans around the bar, showing the patrons, and who is sitting at the end of the bar..........

Did anyone see the Mick on McDonough's City Life on Monday? It was very sad. He said he was in Texas and went to a football game last week and when asked who played he could not remember. VERY SAD. It is quite obvious that the Mick should have stopped fighting long before he did. What good is Money and Fame when you are asked a simple question and cannot awnser it. I hope he doesn't drive. He seems like he is in a trance at times and it takes his brain a while to kick back in. I will pray for you Mickey and stop letting people exploit you.
