Why do we glorify the lives of losers? This has got to be the most embellished story in the history of film.

Deniro was making a joke you buffoon.

Damon's monologue was about confusing Deniro in certain movies with other characters.

His fighter reference was because Damon is sometimes confused with Wahlberg.

Jeez!!!!

You mean to tell me "Why" you think this is the most glorified film because of it's losers it's story is based on?

It is a good story & many great films have been based on less.

Yes their lives may not have been great but it is a film that shows you the trials & tribulations of the people it really did portray.

This really did happen and yes they did fall down and picked themselves up over & over.

They are not mean people. They are hard working people and if you want to throw in the drug issue well then lest go across the country and look into everyone elses city & towns and try not to find anyone who was not touched by the demons of drugs and booze.

Hollywood certainly can't claim they have not been there & done that.

The film is a good film & the story is real the people are real. The people who made the film are real made it real and were genuine.

I grew up there knew of them and actually yes I knew them. But at the time all I knew was that they had troubles like everyone else.

Lowell is a city like any other city. It has it's problems but it has it's stories. Some pretty good ones & i wish this film the best of luck.

Why? It's in my own backyard that's why and could help out the city a bit if it wins. I'd love to see more business come to the New England area as far as filmmaking wouldn't you?

Their winners in my book. What have you done lately? It did take home 2 golden Globe Awards. Not to Shaby for two losers.

The brother who chose the hard working path was glorified in the movie. Did you see the movie? Bale won for his portrayal of Eklund as a drugged out loser. Being someone that met Eklund when he wasn't at his best I think Bale did a damn good job at it.
From what I hear Eklund is clean right now, hopefully he stays that way.

Deniro's Fighter reference was not because of Damon being confused as Wahlberg, it was because Damon was originally tapped to play Eklund but had to turn the roll down because of other projects.
I think Damon would have done a good Eklund, but Bale nailed it.

Have you been to Lowell?? Looked pretty accurate to me. I know there are better looking areas of Lowell and "higher class" citizens, but those aren't the areas and people involved in the story.

Christian Bale thanked GERRY and RAY GREENHALGE not The Ramalho's. Do Research before you write an article. You Did Get Christian thanking Mickey O'Keefe correct. Watch a Clip of Christian Bale accepting the award and you wil see that your article is incorrect. And to Gerry Greenhalge You are incredible they should do a stolry about you and how you dedicated your life to your grandson Ray Ray. You remind me of Dick Hoyt and his son. Gerry you have certainly without a doubt earned your spot in heaven. God Bless

No, I did not listen to Damon. I did not watch the awards show. I do know from following the making of the movie that Damon was originally cast as Dicky Eklund.
Damon may have been joking with Deniro over the confusion of rolls he played, but Deniro's jab was about Damon passing up the roll that won an award.

Not just that, but the writer says Al Pacino, wtf? It was Robert DeNiro, not Pacino.

Doosh alert I did watch the show and I got it. They did it jokingly. People just don't listen now and many don't have a sense of humor anymore.

Most of them read a prompter and said what they had to and improvised. How can they not see that?

The best thing I can tell anyone is to save their money. You lose site of who this picture is all about right off. The best supporting actor should of went to the cop. The film looks like it was shot by high schoolers, not well done professionaly.

loser or not, The Fighter was one of Christian Bale's best performance. You could have hated the movie and what it meant, but you can't deny how great he was in the movie.
