It details Ward's fighting career and

(Eklund's fight back after nearly being destroyed by drugs and crime).

Your kidding right? He's still at it, so he hasn't fought back from anything, he's still fighting.

How many times can one person say 'Umm' in a two minute span. Not taking anything away from Mickey but do we really need to refer to him as Lowell's favorite son ? The names Kerouac or Tsongas ring a bell to anyone ? The 80's called, they want their turtle neck sweater back.

Your kidding right? Two more nobody's. What about our Veterans?
Speaking of favorite son's the Lowell Sun seemed to have forgotten about there favorite son and his involvement in the probation scandal. Not a single word after there initial story. Hello Kendall, Jim anyone there?

Cant wait until the movie comes out so it can fail and I can stop reading about how "wonderful" he is. Im embarassed to live in a city where white trash is glorified.

Not sure how old you are but to consider Paul Tsongas a nobody is really short sided. I don't expect you to even understand Jack Kerouac, but both brought positive energy to Lowell's history, not appearing in the arrest log for bar fights throughout their adulthood.

Lowell is about drugs. As the HBO special with Dick Eklund, that aired years ago, would suggest. If Lowell is so great go hang out there some night and see the sights and sounds. It is a s---hole, with many lunitics trying to make it seem like a normal place to live.

The negativity here is astounding. It's a movie! Don't like Ward or his brother? Don't go see it. I guess it's easier for others to rip them on topix.

In this case, "most" of the comments above are correct. Negative or not, reality is reality. I personally didn't say I didn't like him, I just find the revisionist history odd by calling someone with a long arrest record for assault and drunkeness 'Lowell's Favorite Son'. It makes the politicians look worse than they normally do and should be an insult to most of the fine people of Lowell. Lowell is not about drugs, there are bad parts of Lowell like there are all towns in this country. I personally won't go to see the movie but it doesn't mean I am not leagally allowed to provide my opinion on the subject.

Be careful- they authorities know the caliber of Lowellian who is going to this. This "premier" is simply a warrant round up. Half of Mickey's relatives and 70% of the others in attendance will be rounded up. Enjoy the night in the slammer in your stolen tux.
