I was watching the awards show with my 15 year old daughter and felt compelled to shut it off. What's your message to our children - have sex and do drugs??! I found the whole thing pathetic and vulgar. You should show more social responsibility than that. Is that what it means to be a "creative artist? Any scumbag could have produced that.

Bob, the awards were just to have fun. Your 15 year old daughter more than likey hears worse things at lunch, at her school. Teenagers are vulgar. We just dont see it, they hide it. Talk to her if you think someone should have more responsibility. Let her know that the things on this show were immature, especially for actors/actresses (role models.)

Love or hate MTV, ya gotta give them credit for keeping it wild and not being too into themselves. Everyone gets nuts and they let their hair down.

I don't have children but if I had a 15-year-old I wouldn't suggest they watch it? Although I realize they are exposed to this type of thing on the internet and in school.

Times have changed, Bob.*sigh*

I don't think I would watch something like this with my Dad, though. And I am of age.

My friends and I wish we could grow up in the 1950s....

But even then my grandparents hated Elvis. WHY?

did you see (rolling eyes) and hear Robert Downey, Jr.'s respose to Seth Rogen's fake pot riddled intro though?

Talk about a guy who has been through it (and is now a dad, right?)

There are young people who don't care what bogus MTV says and know it's hype.

I'm more educated and addicted to what I find on the interwebzz....

Bob, I hope you monitor every single page your girl visits on the internet. It is so gross! I was just leaving the house when the www hit the fan.

It's a vile cesspool.....it's really sick out here, no regulation.

Okay, I am a 15 year old. Whatever I have ever heard on TV I have most definitely been exposed to at school, probably even worse. There is no way to get around it, this is how our society is today. Just because most adults didn't grow up with this, doesn't mean that their kids are just somehow going to be immune to hearing and dealing with the vulgar people, language, and culture. They just need to deal with the fact that their children are going to be exposed to this type of thing, and trying to keep them away from it, is only going to make them want to see/use it more. And if they still want their kids to not be exposed, the best thing I can suggest is to keep the kid home, no computer, no friends, no television, no phone, no school, not even leaving the house. There are so many vulgar things even at the grocery store, let me know how this works for you.
