Big adventure to come for Pee-wee? | The Columbus Dispatch

For anyone old enough to have come into pop cultural consciousness in the mid-'80s, Pee-wee Herman casts a long shadow -- albeit an almost transcendently nerdy shadow, one most often recalled dancing atop a bar to the jaunty instrumental Tequila in his 1985 breakthrough movie, Pee-wee's Big Adventure . Pee Wee's Playhouse is one of the few things from the 80s I'd care to see revived.

It probably wouldn't have the same impact today as it did then, but at least the many who appreciated it then could see it one more time...and I suspect it wouldn't have sold out for five months if it wasn't at least halfway decent.

Man, I remember the outrage when he got busted for flogging his bishop in that XXX theater. You'd have thought he molested a child. To me, I figured the guy just got trapped in a character that became bigger than he was. Think about it: what do you know about Paul Reubens? Nothing. He was a struggling improv cast member when Pee Wee's career took off. Maybe he wanted to get caught.

Nevertheless, Pee Wee Herman defined an era of Children's programming. He put the kibosh on Captain Kangaroo (an odd duck if ever there was one) and offered something a little more entertaining than Mr. Rogers.

I'd love to see a biopic detailing Paul's big adventure. I bet that would be a great story.

GREETINGS AND FAITHFUL SAYINGS:
Greetings to one and all: In that most precious name. That name which is above every name, the name: "Jesus" ____There's tremendous power in that name. I'd suppose we'll never fully realize all that can truly be accomplished, by us simply calling out that name in true faith.____There's an old, old, gospel song that goes like this: Faith in the Father, faith in the Son, faith in the Holy Spirit, great victories are won. Demons will tremble and sinners will awake, faith in Jehovah will anything shake.____For you who have never come into this realization, if you're reading this, just give him a welcome into your heart and life. You will both feel and see an awesome difference. You will have also purchased the ticket to heaven (by accepting, therefore making him welcome to come into your life. You will also sup from His cup that contains living water.(As did the woman at the well of Bethesda.) John 4:10____Much love,____Your brother in Christ Jesus, who is both our Lord, and Savior.____www.eloquentbooks.c om/BeyondTheGoldenSunsetAndByT ...
