This movie is nothing more that Sean Combs perpetuating the myth that Christopher Wallace was a great entertainer. This guy was nothing more than a petty thug that sold drugs to the people in his own neighborhood before he received a record deal. His mother should be ashamed of his past, but she, like combs, is looking to make some money. Don't get me wrong, I get that this is just a movie, just as Sid and Nancy glorified the lifestyle of drug abuse, this movie does the same for the "thug life". I just get tired of hearing how great this guy was. In my opinion he sucked. There are and where so many others that had more talent than Wallace, but did not have the marketing savy of Combs. That is the REAL success story here. How Combs built an empire around the ghost of Wallace.

That is the REAL success story here. How Combs built an empire around the ghost of Wallace. Biggy grew up in the projects without much money,so he hustled. He talked about his life experiances. He also changed his style as his life changed. On his debut he talked about past experiances and on his second album he talked about life as a celebrity and partying.Because he wasn't living in the projects anymore he changed his style to reflect that. Calling Puff Daddy the reason for Biggys success is a false statement.Com bs label has been a bust since biggy died.Com bs couldn't sell with his other protege mase after biggys death could he,he also couldn't sell with Craig Mack before big.The most commercially succesful rapper he's had since Biggy is a one hit wonder named Yung Joc so I don't think that it was puffys genious that made biggy. Besides name one reason why biggy wasn't a talented mc?He had a killer flow,a distinct voice, was a sharp lyricist,a master of wordplay, and a amazing storyteller.

Rap requires very little talent as it is. So what's the big deal? Any shnook can yap slanted rhymes, curse like a trooper, go "hu-huh" into a microphone for 15 minutes and misspell the English language beyond recognition. (What is a "boyz" anyway? And what is a "phat?") Thank god for drop dead sexy chicks with great voices like Beyonce, Ashanti and Rhianna. It's a bummer that black dudes gave up singing 20 years ago. Luckily the chicks make up for it.

Ya gotta watch who you say no to I guess A lot of people grow up without money, he chose to live the live he did. I am from a similar neighborhood, and I did just fine without selling or doing drugs. You cannot deny that without Puffy's industry savy the world would never have heard of Biggie. While the point you make about Diddy's lack of success with artists after Biggie is valid, however as someone not really into Hip Hop, I have heard of just about all of them. This illustrates the mans marketing ability. I mean comeon the guy has his name(s) on everything from alcohol to underwear.

They didn't give up on singing; young black "music" - rap AIN'T MUSIC - buyers simply stopped buying CD releases featuring "black dudes" actually singing, opting instead for the thugged-out, ghetto language style of gangsta rappers and hip-hop artists. Hence the demise of black singing groups and mature black solo singing artists - no more Luther Vandross; Peabo Bryson; Freddy Jackson; Temptations; Four Tops; Jodeci; Toni, Toni! Tone!, Stylistics; Al Green, Delphonics; Teddy Pendergras; Dramatics, Commodores, Chi-Lites; Lionel Richie, Boys to Men; Marvin Gaye; O'Jays; Dells; Jeffrey Osborne, Harold Melvin and the Blue Notes, Spinners, etc. Soul/R&B has officially joined Jazz as a dying/dead art form.

I believe the answer is a bunch of uneducated ghetto thugs who feel the need to always carry guns in case they ever cross paths with the likes of themselves. A gathering of people like that will ALWAYS be a recipe for violence. P.S. I decided to use the name "Racist". Therefore saving you the trouble of calling me a racist because of what I just wrote.

I would love to see a so called talented Rap artist do a rap on a quote from the Bible like the Byrds did in the late 60's and make it a respectable positive song.

Qwanna, it appears you've spent too much time listening to and worshipping rappers and hip-hop artists and not enough time focusing on your education. You spelling, sentence structure, puncuation and grammar are horrid! If you're in school please remain there, and study harder. If you've dropped out go back and rededicate youself to getting an education. If you somehow managed to graduate - and I can't imagine that being the case - you quite obviously did not get your money's worth. At any rate, young blacks like yourself are an embarrassment and a disgrace to Dr. King and all those who fought so hard, sacrficed so much and endured so much in order to ensure our people would have every opportunity to "reach for the stars". You, and many like you, have opted instead to "reach for the sewer, the gutter, the trash can". The promise of one day realizing the "Dream" Martin Luther King, Jr. spoke of is dying, and you and your kind are the ones contributing to its death. "...as they rushed to their death, all the while listening to the heavy bass beat and mindless vulgarity that is the essence of hip-hop and gangsta rap."
