Both monuments are awe-inspiring, and a visitor could spend a full day in the Crazy Horse Center. There are two natural monuments in western South Dakota as well--Harney Peak, the highest peak east of the Rockies, and Bear Butte, a sacred mound that rises suddenly out of the plains. Crazy Horse himself sought spiritual guidance at Bear Butte.
Rapid City has western art galleries and there are lots of family-oriented attractions just south of the city--Reptile Gardens, Bear Country, and Custer State Park.

They are both awesome and neither should missed. But if you are there you have to spend time in Custer State Park And The Badlands NP.
