Audiences adopt 'Chihuahua' with $29M weekend

There are 11 comments on the The Associated Press story from Oct 5, 2008, titled Audiences adopt 'Chihuahua' with $29M weekend . In it, The Associated Press reports that:

'Beverly Hills Chihuahua' was barking up the right tree with movie-goers, who put the Disney comedy at No. 1 for the weekend with a $29 million debut, according to studio estimates Sunday.

Featuring a talking Chihuahua with Drew Barrymore's voice, the family flick about a pampered pooch lost in Mexico led a surge of new movies that boosted Hollywood business, which generally has slumped the last two months.

The top-12 movies hauled in $95.4 million, up 42 percent from the same weekend a year ago, when 'The Game Plan' was No. 1 with $16.6 million.

Please dont be a backyard breeder after watching this movie. I know lulubellechihuahua.com is cute and stella even cuter but alot of those pups that are adopted after watching the movie are gonna wind up in a shelter after a while. Dog ownership is not easy (i know i don't have time for dog now) so please dont let the cuteness of the movie and websites on the Internet fool you. Chihuahuas require attention like any other dog. Look at Paris Hilton. I dunno how she adopts so many Chihuahuas when she's busy traveling all the time. Who watches and plays with them?

It is funny though, 90% of Philipino people have dogs for protection yet 90% of them are afraid of dogs, must be the other 10-10 that eat em'? I've been here for a long time and trust me, nobody around here is eating them?.........looks like the SPCA in America will be getting it's smack down of the latest craze of Chihuahua dogs when the funs over and the real work begins. Just like American, make a pet shark movie and two days after they be swimming at the local beaches looking for "Freddy" to take home and put in a tank.

Disney had a few paragraphs at the end of the movie abut making sure getting a pet is the right choice for your family basically do not run out and get a puppy without thinking it through. The movie was good.

Good thing Disney added the paragraphs. I would never adopt a pet then get rid of it. It's horrible to live alone. I had never seen a Chihuahua with long hair. On that website there is a Chihuahua named Stella who is a mix with a Maltese dog. I'll try to find one of those. She sure is adorable.

When I saw this trailer in the theater, there was an audible groan. But, I guess it's making money and that's all that really matters, right?
