God bless our usually worthless politicians. It really is funny that they were going to Washington to vote on a safety issue involving airlines. Seems they were serious about getting up on the hill to vote. From watching C Span I suspect the congress chambers are usually empty while members read trash for the record. These guys deserve credit as does Big Ted for making it in to vote on the medicare bill. In fact, when I see politicians vote, no matter how they vote, I am thrilled to know that not all of them are completely useless.

Well maybe now they will take customer complaints about the airlines seriously.

Did Rep. Lampson ever consider that the lack of information may have been a good thing? People didn't panic because their minds were not filled with "Houston, we have a problem." Who are the 'we' that wondered what was going on and needed reassurance? Part of the reason for "the lack of information" may have been that the flight crew was more focused on addressing the problem and insuring a positive resolution rather than being distracted by the passengers 'need to know'...I believe most passengers would choose a safe solution and good landing over distraction and need to know what is happening every second of the way...No wonder Congress is such a mess and considered the opposite of Progress...would this incident have been such a big deal news story had Congressmen not be aboard, or simply another story with a happy ending thanks to the professionals on board doing their job?
