Belefonte has always remained my long-time favorite. I saw him once outside the back door of the Cincinnati Music Hall-I was instantly 14 again! His physical presence was astounding and I remembered he sang to the balcony and was truly a neat person. A night to remember!

Many years ago, when my daughter was 18 month old, I took her to hear Mr. Belafonte .. I had to finally take her into the balcony because she could not stop dancing! When she was about 5, he again came to Seattle and I again took her to his concert. This time, we sat in the left front of the audience, and three times he sashayed over to that side of the stage, put his hands on his hips, and looked at her (a little brown-skinned girl!) for a minute or two as his band continued to play, waiting for him to continue! When we left, I asked my daughter what she thought of this performance, and she told me that she was "mad at that Sweet Daddy." I asked her why, and she said, "Because he didn't ask me to come up and sing and dance with him!" She grew up to become an actress, and played Shawnese on the Martin series. I have to thank some wonderful folks, like Mr. Belafonte, for their gracious influence of inclusion!
