JRM seems a regular guy from humble beginnings. Like many actors he appears a bit uncomfortable when he isn't playing a role and must "perform" for the public as himself.
Though many wish for wealth and fame, it is difficult to imagine the pressure and scrutiny that accompany them. That said, there is no excuse for such a loss of control and he is certainly not to be pitied.
This young man has the talent and the heart to overcome mere sex-symbol status. If he can get the better of his demons they will enhance his character and clear the way for him to grow into a more complex, seasoned actor. I'm rooting for him.

True that there's no excuse for giving in to one's demons, but I believe that he is a man of charater, I have to believe that someone who grew up in the middle of the Irish Troubles (an understatement if you ask me) developed a character and I'm sure that sooner or later he'll be able to find a way manage his drinking problems. The thing is that, as fans we just see and know a scoop from his adult life, we just see and know about the Actor, but it's clear that we can't be judgemental about the person because we don't know the burden he carries as a person.
Mind you, I do not support that kind of behaviour and the airline did the right thing. But as fans we need to always take in consideration that an actor is not just a product so to speak, but a person with a million things behind him, and that if we claim to love or adore or any other phrase we tend to use, we also need to support the man behind the actor.
Tnx

I agree with both previous posters. We have no idea what is truly going on inside anyone other than ourselves, and sometimes even not then. I hope and pray that Jonathan Rhys Meyers can recover from his troubles.

I am curious to know if anyone has confirmed that he did indeed use the "n" word during his tantrum at JFK. It seems every media outlet is reporting that they got their information from www.radaronline.com and radar got their information from an anonymous source. I don't doubt that it could have been said; I am just skeptical. It seems that the media has rushed to judgement without confirming the facts, which is troubling because it could very well be detrimental to his career.

Also, it seems as if he has fallen off the face of the Earth. It seems that he would have finished rehab by now (some online reports said he was at Wimbledon), and would be making some statement of apology, or at the very least acknowledgement. Has anyone heard any reports of his whereabouts or condition.

At any rate, I do hope he gets the help he needs. It is hard to see anyone suffer from addictions or personality disorder, especially so publicly. Jonathan Rhys Meyers is blessed with a dearth of talent...it would be such a shame to see it go to waste.

Pardon me, I misspoke. I meant to say, "Jonathan Rhys Meyers is blessed with a *glut* of talent...it would be such a shame to see it go to waste." I can't believe I typed *dearth*, lol. It is the wee hours of the morning here in Tennessee.
