When too much you eat

and you don't fit in your seat

There are safety regulations you must meet

and off the airplane you must get

so don't be upset

Sorry Kevin - Southwest did the right thing. The person sitting next to Kevin Smith shouldn't have to give up part of his/her seat to Kevin. I've sat in the middle seat between two very large people (with the armrests down) and that can be rather uncomfortable. If the armrest can't be put down because the traveler is 'overlapping' into his neighbor's space, then the buy two seat rule needs to be enforced.

A Hollywood director who doesn't fly on a private jet?

Don't blame Southwest, blame the eating habits.

Time for a wake up call- if you are getting kicked off planes for being fat- it's time for a look in the mirror.

People screaming "prejudice" about this need to remember that Southwest also kicked off a sweet young thing who was underdressed (or they made her cover up, I can't remember, she was on the Today show about a year ago for it), and are known for kicking people off who smell bad, who are intoxicated, etc. They simply tow the line to accomodate their clients who are thoughtful of others, and I'm good with that.

i'd like to see some pictures--at least for the first part anyway--wink, wink!--actually pictures of the last part might even be worth a laugh though--don't airlines offer free air fresheners to their customers?--if not hook the instigators up to the fuel tank

Hey Kevin, I love your stupid movies but your attitude sucks!

"The airline said Smith had purchased two tickets, as he often does, but when Smith decided to fly earlier on standby, only one seat was available, and he was told to get off the plane after he was already seated."

Why did you accept a single seat knowing that you usually buy two? Are you suggesting airlines should have fat people templates like for overhead luggage so you would know for sure that you are too fat for one seat?

"The incident has prompted the National Association to Advance Fat Acceptance to call for a boycott of Southwest."

Thank you! I'll make sure to fly Southwest in comfort every chance I get!

if they can find a big enough mirror, one that will allow them to see the BIG picture.

You should have seen that little gal- the top was so small and the skirt was so short that every time she tried to adjust something something else popped out! I'm a little too old to care about that, and my family (all red-blooded males) thought it was fine, but it was funny to watch her sit perfectly still in the studio trying to keep that outfit all together for the cameras! LOL!

Southwest ended up apoligizing and giving this shmoe money and credit and all. Too bad. He chooses to be that overweight, that's his choice, but everybody else shouldn't have to kiss his butt for it.

Rude Rude Rude! It was their fault to begin with. Once they seen they're mistake they should have corrected it without embarressing the young man. I mean really. Um, do people not see him buying the ticket? Did they not see him loading the plane? Maybe the pilot was just some kind of fat hater or didnt like him movies. Like Kevin mentioned, he seen a larger man on their. So why is he so special. Bottom line is they need to make larger seats for larger people. Get over it America we are OBESE. We need to make things to fit the Obese out there. I mean look we sit here and switch around all of our menus and our books and even our calls to business to spanish/english menus. Why not have larger seats and larger meals offered for the "obese" out there. No matter what we do or say. People are going to live the way they live. Now that this public known man was humiliated in front of a full flight is NOT RIGHT! Regardless the weight. This is bologna if you ask me! Once again, all you perfert people out there just seem to love to sit here and stick your perfect lil nose into everyone elses business and talk them down like they are lil people beneath you. One day, you shall have your turn. Until, then, stop and smell the flowers. Quit being so judgmental and degrating. There are different people, different sizes, different hair, differnt colors. Lets focus on that before we start focusing more on how "FAT" someone is and how it disgusts the perfect size 2 bulimic next to him :) I dont judge, I just call it as I see it :)

Great idea. Let's retool the entire plane to accommodate people who don't care enough about themselves or have any respect for others. Airlines should have less seats and make less money to accommodate disrespect.

Just watched the 4 o'clock show and they were discussing this story. Heard Libby Weaver say it's a life style choice (to be overweight). How incredibly stupid that remark was! Along with some posted here. Sure for many people it's a matter of overeating. BUT, for some weight gain is due to medications and the weight gain can't be helped. Some of you ought to do some research on the subject before you open your mouths spewing things you don't know about.

Well....after seeing this story first on your 4:00 newscast with Libby Weaver, I'm glad Miss Perfect is taking a hard stance on something that really outrages most Americans. I mean, night after night we get to see her cop out attitude on murders & rape, but let a news story about a fat guy come across the wires...well she jumped all over it...even to the point of telling her cohorts to be silent until she got her opinion out. Since Libby Weaver was one of the main reasons I watched Fox 31 news.......I can now say that because of her personal opinions about fat people will be the reason I go back to one of the other 3 main stream news programs. I tune in the news for the news, not to hear what a perfect looking anchor thinks the rest of us should look like.
