IMPAIRED, not unable!!! Limited Ability, not unable!!!
Unable is inappropriate word usage and an insult to those with aspergers! Unable means they are not able to at all, which is lie, and untrue! I get so sick and tired or people, including journalists and educators, who use words such as unable, can't, instead of 'limited ability''impaired' etc... It is negative, and an insult to those with Aspergers and higher functioning autism to be so damn negative! Knock it off! IT SHOULD READ: Asperger's syndrome, a form of autism in which people have 'limited ability' to perceive what others are thinking or feeling. (Not unable! As the article reads below.) ---------- ....In the film, opening Wednesday, Byrne's character has an unlikely romance with a young man afflicted with Asperger's syndrome, a form of autism in which people are unable to perceive what others are thinking or feeling. |
