Department of Homeland Security agents have arrested five men in connection with a human smuggling ring that allegedly brought Chinese citizens into Houston from the Dominican Republic and Bangkok, Thailand.

The arrests capped a more than 19-month undercover investigation into the smuggling operation, which operated primarily out of the Dominican Republic but also stretched into far east Asia, said Sean McElroy, assistant special agent in charge for Homeland Security Investigations in Houston.

HSI agents said the smuggling organization charged as much as $40,000 to come into the U.S. from Bangkok.

Classic. The Federal government has everyone all worked up over Mexicans and they should be all worked up over Asians.

No Absurdity, we should be "all worked up" over ALL ILLEGALS no matter their country of origin, race, creed, religion or skin color.

The FACT is that Hispanics & Latinos make up the majority of ILLEGALS in this country but at the same time Europeans, Canadians, Asians and African are here ILLEGALLY too.

Asians are underrepresented in the USA due to the Chinese Exclusion Act which existed from 1882-1968 not to mention the Naturalization Act of 1790 which stipulated that "any alien, being a free white person, may be admitted to become a citizen of the United States"

Ever wonder why the USA has had such a huge spike in non-white immigration since 1968?

1968 Act: Eliminated US immigration discrimination based on race, place of birth, sex and residence. It also officially abolished restrictions on Oriental US immigration.

If China was our southern border I feel that the animosity Americans project toward todays Hispanics would in no doubt be the same to a large influx of Asians.

Americans did it to the Irish, Germans, Italians, and just about anyone who brought a different culture, language or non-Protestant religion to the USA.

Once these newly arrived immigrants illegal or not assimilate, they eventually become the new guard against the future wave of immigrants.

It's just the way of the American. I feel we see the ugly today regarding this issue becuase of the recession and the tensions that it brings to Americans who are at home worried about their homes foreclosing and jobs being moved over seas of taken by illegal immigrants.

Sorry Rico, but Americans were concerned about ILLEGAL immigration long before Bush and the GOP drove the economy into the dirt.

Yes, we have a sorry history when it comes to discrimination against immigrants.

However, we are not talking about immigrants or legal immigration.

We're talking about a virtual invasion of ILLEGAL aliens mainly from the 3rd world.

Our history is not an excuse for throwing open the borders to invaders.

Legal immigrants are welcomed in this country as long as they meet the needs of America, contribute and assimilate.

Rico - No dispute on the law, some were penalized for their country of origin, can't defend that so I can't argue in favor of it.
IMO, the Chinese are welcome, as all others are welcome, if and when they enter in a legal manner.
If they enter in less than a legal manner then they, as all others, should be shown the exit and escorted out quickly.

Sorry I was trying to make a broader point I guess it didn't come across that we're spending billions building this fence and it's basically worthless because they are coming from every direction not just across our southern boarder.
