There are 1 comment on the EDGE story from Oct 7, 2011, titled The Ides Of March. In it, EDGE reports that:

A man walking toward the camera comes into focus in the first shot of George Clooney's new directorial effort "The Ideas of March." It's wunderkind political staffer Steven Myers , and the life in politics he's chosen for himself is about to shed its nebulous haze of optimism and come into ruthless clarity.

Moviegoing habits: Republicans vs. Democrats

In the Hollywood and politics issue of the The Hollywood Reporter, there’s a piece looking at the movie-going tendencies of Republicans and Democrats. It focuses on Morgan Freeman’s recent comments about the tea party and racism and how his words negatively influenced Republican interest in his new flick,“Dolphin Tale.”

A Penn Schoen Berland poll conducted for THR found that “before Freeman's words, interest in ‘Dolphin Tale’ was considerably higher among conservatives and religious movie goers than among liberals.”

But after Freeman called the tea party racist,“34 percent of the conservatives who were aware of [his words], and 37 percent of tea partiers, said they were less likely to see the film — but 42 percent of liberals said they were more likely” to see the movie.“Dolphin Tale,” despite the flap, ended up No. 1 at the box office during opening weekend.

Also looking at the general moviegoing tendencies of both parties, the poll found that Democrats go to the movies more often, like their movies with an edge and think that Hollywood portrays America well. Republicans are more likely to wait for the home movie release, prefer family films and are more likely to “tsk-tsk sex, violence and cursing.”
