Is Taye diggs so broke that he needs to play a gay person on Will and Grace. Can't he find some better roles

Uh, John? Will and Grace is one of the best rated shows. Broke? I'm doubting that Taye Diggs is poor by any means.

I forgot to say that he appears to need money very badly judging from the films I've seen him in. Aside from Stella and perhaps Brown Sugar, all of his other roles stink including his non-role in the movie Rent. I thought Rosario Dawson was fabulous however.

My girlfriend thinks Taye Diggs is hot (she is hung up on his physique not his acting.) I have followed his career a little and I am not all that impressed with him. He certainly has not reached the heights of other actors i.e. Wesley Snipes, Morgan Freeman, Denzel, Will Smith, etc. but that is not to say that he won't. In my opinion Diggs should hold out for parts with more character as the more mature actors do. Can I have some discussion?

Aw James, how little you know about the 'bis. Most actors, good actors, successful actors take whatever they can get (except porn). That is how it goes. No matter how talented or successful an actor is or is not...he or she still has to keep in mind that they cannot get every role that they want. Sometimes the best publicity is the worst publicity. get it?

if someone is a good actor they don't have to "settle for what they can get". usually they get OFFERED roles and if they like the script they go with it, if not they reject it. futhermore all publicity is not good publicity.

Calling someone an "Uncle Tom" might have been in fashion back in the 1850's when Harriet Beecher Stowe's novel Uncle Tom's Cabin was first published, but using that term in the year 2006 just makes you look ignorant, screwed up and jealous.

If you are trying to call Taye a "sellout," then I would ask you what is the basis for your opinion? Just because every movie he has made has not been a great movie does not make him a "sellout." Almost every Hollywood actor has made at least a few (if not more) mediocre "mass market" films. If you are commenting on his specific roles, then I would say that generally Taye plays intelligent and engaging characters in his films, and I do not think his roles make either him specifically or African-American in general look bad in any way.

You have a right not to like Taye Diggs as an actor, but making nasty and offensive remarks about him as an individual without providing any basis for your opinion just makes you appear to be a bitter, cynical, and pathetic little person.

I don't want to get in the middle of anything, but I do want to say that Taye Diggs is married to Idina Menzel, the woman who played Maureen in RENT. Just wanted to say that.

I echo Jimmy in defense of Taye's sexuality, mainly because I'm such a fan of his wife. Idina Menzel and him have been married since 2003; she is a brilliantly talented performer, and both Taye and her have starred on Broadway since Rent...in fact, Idina headed the cast of the most popular musical in America right now (Wicked). So I doubt they're tight for money. And who's to say that he wasn't offered these roles/didn't find them suitable? Your opinion of a great role probably differs from mine, and more than likely differs from his.

And that Uncle Tom comment is incredibly bigoted. Seriously. When one is making judgements on a person (no matter their color: black, white, hispanic, etc. or sexuality) based on their career choices, I find myself completely disgusted. Thanks for taking the human respect/equality movement back by about forty years.

I think Taye is great. I've followed his career for a long time. I saw this guy on a BBC America show named "Mile high". His name is Martin Cole. The show was a bit trashy but he was good. He's really hot! He reminded me of Taye a lot. Except he has a really hot British accent. He website ( www.martincole.tv ) is really interesting and he has done a lot of work in the U.K. It seems he lives in L.A now so I'll be looking out for him.

Oh my!!!! Sounds like somebody is bitter, or perhaps a hater. Can we just be happy when a handsome, talented, intelligent black man is doing well? I, for one am proud to see him continue to get roles that are not thuggish or negative..... Being gay is not a bad thing, you know....... I have seen all of his films. He has a nice range of roles that prove he can play many different types. You forgot THE BEST MAN!!! That was a good one!

happened upon this site and read these out of curiosity. I just happen to have grown up with him and can tell you that he's not gay. As for the other bashers, please remember that people are people no matter what their profession. In the same way that you would frown upon folks who judge or slander you without really knowing you as an individual, you shouldn't do it to anyone else. keep busy improving your life and you won't have time to judge others.

Taye has matured in his role as an actor: crawl before you can walk. So what if Kevin Hill didn't make it big? The guy is hot and i appreciate having to check him out on DayBreak every week. Happy thanksgiving y'all.

You American people are so lucky to have a hot black star like Taye Diggs. We don't have any black actors in New Zealand. Taye Diggs is seriously hot, inside and out, and he seems like a really nice guy. But I have noticed that whenever he appears in photos with his wife, her body language is dominating and he leans intot he background a bit. I wish she'd back off a bit and appear more as an equal.
