I see that the Daily Pass or you have removed the comments section to your story that you posted (Drake's vote against bill becomes ammo for Democrats) can you tell me why the comments were removed from the story. So should I believe that your left wing agenda has taken over and the comments did not fit you or the paper agenda? How should I say it that the Daily Press is not believer of Freespeach. That the way I see it and that how I’m going to tell it that the Daily Press does not believe speech that does not fit your agenda.

Please give me your answer for you removing Free speech from you paper online.

just saw into the wild.
im now 50, years old, but it was like a trip into my 20's. i spent six years traveling the country on foot , motorcycle , hitchicking, and by car. it was good to see all of the old spots. all of your locations were known by my past.
my impression was it was too bad the real carector was not better prepaired for his expierences. instead of making the statement that there are more than one way to live in this society, the movie left me with a taste of (see if you dont conform you die). i wish it would have celebrated the independent life, but with the reality of reality one needs to be preppared, there is no 911 at the top of the mountain.

This is a terrible film and a worse screenplay. It is trite, simplistic, and preachy. It is all so neatly tied together---so totally unbelievable---that no one I was with at the movies was able to identify with central character---the voice overs were way tooooo much---and the prose of the voice overs---wasn't believable. What are the odds that a kid who graduates from college and doesn't contact his family---hook up with a couple of hippies, whose son also dropped off the face of the earth two years ago?

I have not read the book---and probably won't now. I've always admired Sean Penn's work---but I'll definitely wait for the DVD if Mr. Penn decides to write anymore screenplays.

The best that can be said for this film---is that the photography is amazing.

I have read the book"Into The Wild" and I went to see the film the other night with my wife and son and although they had not read the story they said that it was a great movie.
I thought that the movie was almost as good as the book although the book stirred my emotions a great deal more. Very sad story

wow, most of you missed the point of the movie entirely. for a long time i viewed the world through “alezander supertramp” eyes. and although i was never as drastic in my attempts to free myself from society – I routinely made escpaes into mountains for solitude.

you can say all day that he was not prepared, that he didn’t think things through. ok maybe not, but that does not make him a moron. that makes him human. he believed something, he had passion, and he rolled with it.

there is a moment of realization in the book when he writes “happiness is real only when shared”. to me that was the message i walked away. i have often felt as he did, that there was no way to live in society and not by into its rules. he learned at the end of his life that there was. he didn’t make it out alound, but his relation did – and i have learned from it. i have learned to live within society without giving in to all its rules. all the while, sharing life with other people.

i cant imagine what it must have been like for chris to realize what he had in his relationships. i cringed at the point in the book and the movie when he goes to cross the stream only to find it had grown into a ranging river. maybe that’s the trap of isolation. it gives us a false idea that we can go back and forth between isolating ourselves and having meaningful relationships. and then there comes a point where its too late and your bound to be stuck out there, alone and loney. it’s a difficult lesson but one of the reasons the story of chris mccandless still resonates with me.

i thought it wa so beautiful and anyone who says it had a bad message was retarted. the point is not that one cant be happy unless one conforms...
but instead that no matter how we live it is we as humans must depnd on eachother for both survival and sanity

I believe that everyone has been overly judgemental of the story and of McCandless. I believe we all at some point in our lives would have liked to do what he did. He just wasn't prepared or experienced to live 'in the wild'. I have lived with good ole boys for too long to believe otherwise.
