To Madonna and Oprah
The work Madonna is doing to support the orphanages in Africa is to be commended.
I hope that instead of removing children we can find a way to offer the villages the necessary support to
maintain them and teach them self suffiency. However if the family is dead, the only hope they have is to be adopted.
I hope she will support an open adoption so her adopted son can continue to be connected with his cultural hertiage. Going from black poverty and illness to affluence in a white privleged society is a huge leap.
Thank you and good luck

I think it's wonderful how Madonna is willing to help those children in need! I think that she seems like a wonderful and very loving mother and wish that others could follow suit.

SHE DID THE RIGHT THING IN A WRONG WAY. I support Madonna`s decision to adopt David cos this will make life better for a poor child. I strongly disagree with those who says she could have saved many kids by providing more funds for the orphanage. She `s given 3 millions already and if many celeb can adopt one child and use(not donate)3 million to provide for the orphans the problem in malawi will be reduced.
My only disagreement is that Madonna`s plan is not just to save this child but a selfish plan to add to her own family. If she really want to save this child, she should take the dad with him, get them an apartment in UK or USA, provide money to the father to start his own job. I beleive 1 million dollars could do this. This 1 million dollars will be spent extravagantly on David in the next one year especially if the court case continues. She should have adopted a child with no living parent.

I respect your sugestion, but it is a hypeteticall one. But it does not adress the core isue. By adpoting that child Madonna has done three things 1- she has raised world awarness about the flight of those people. 2- She has contributed financially and in wise and parcticall way to help those who are most voulrnable in that country. 3- she has taken the greatest responsibility of them all by agreeing to rais that baby. For a rich woman, giving money away is the easy part, but raising a child is a challenge. I think that child will grow up as a world citizen, he will learn to care and to take responisbility just like Madonna. Whether one is rich or poor, paranthood remains the most cahllenging job. Being a biological parant does not necessary make one a responsible parant. It is sad to see that some people think only in term of money and material things, but fail to see the love and the connection that Madonna feels for that child. Madonna does not do things half hartedly. She loves that child.
