Unlike the author of this article, I am not looking forward to this movie. Why does Hollywood always feel the need to remake classic movies? The answer is because they have no more original ideas, which results in bastardizations of great movies.

I not only hope the True Grit remake flops, I hope all those involved in the making this movie fall flat on their face!!

Ths site seems to be new. Appreciate all your comments. I just came back from doing another gig on Duke's yacht, the "Wild Goose" and found this site. Interesting.
As to new ideas for Westerns, I am the author of 6 Westerns - the prequel and sequel of John Wayne's movie, "The Cowboys". These are 6 good reasons for making more Western movies.
Keep up the good work. Love reading these.

I on the other hand am looking forward to the classic remake. Only because to a younger audience it could open up new ideas and windows to us younger group of filmmakers. Now, with that being said if it is butchered, which I hope not, then I can fully understand why it shouldn't be remade. To be honest Ive seen this movie more than most my grandfather was a historian from fort smith, ar so I know first hand what went on and to be honest giving the duke an academy award for being the duke doesnt cut it for me. Fill your hands you son of a bitch was his best line and how common is that is mst modern movie for the protagonist to say something that gets antagonist riled up. Secondly the coen brothers are doing this. I f they hold true to the story, which they say they are, and shoot it in the sense that they shot no country for old men in I think we got oscar written all over it. I do believe in what you say as far as remakes and original ideas. Completely gone out the window these days. Clash of the titans was horrible as are most but this is one I believe to be in good hands and the one movie of the winter I am waiting to see.
