I saw the movie last night. I knew it would be good with this cast of actors in it, especially the humor. It was better than expected, I'm happy to say. Interspersed with good humor, it hit on real issues in a kindly manner. Its a movie that I expect all of us can relate to and enjoy!

Thanks Hollywood for a good job!!

Hope, it's good to see you on here again. Whatever happened to the other forum we were posting comments on? I don't see it listed on here anymore.

Hi, good to see you, too! Last time I was there it just disappeared from my screen. One minute it was there. Then the next, it was gone.

I thought it was my computer messing up at first. Yet, I haven't seen it since.

I've been pretty busy, though, and college is going again.

I had a wedding to go to where the couple was first married privately; six months later they had a public ceremony for us all to attend. It was so sweet. Being already married, the preacher and the couple had fun saying their piece. It was so dear, because it was truly what was on their heart instead of normal vows and the normal, do you -- take, etc.. And we, the audience just laughed several times. We couldn't hold it in.

The 'bride' in her vows was saying to her husband,'if you don't do this, this, and this I'm going to hurt you, etc.. We all understood because it had to do with keeping him safe from the dangers of an old injury.(football) But, we still dropped our mouths at first in surprise. I even started to wonder if he might just 'sneak out the back, Jack'. But he just stood there with her hands in his and looked at her adoringly with a smile.

Then the preacher giving his sage advice was saying,'never go to bed angry...you might not wake up in the morning'. And he didn't mean due to violence, but after the bride's vow, we just couldn't hold in laughing about how humorously it came across. Some of us were jokingly thinking.....'yeah, she might do him in if he sleeps and she's mad, eh'.

Needless to say, it was a wedding we'll not forget soon. And we'll be sure to tease them about!

I love it when people are accidentally funny!

Hope, I have to tell you that the folks in the San Saha forum are some nasty, hateful people. I was simply commenting about TLJ and they seem to be "experts" on the man. One woman said she dated him for two months and even a couple of people are claiming his wife divorced him and is now dating another person. This man even went as far as saying he keeps in touch with her. They call me clueless because I don't reside in their town. Very tasteless and abusive in their posts, even going as far as calling me names. They can't get over the fact that I'm posting in their forum when I don't live in their town. I don't blame the man one bit if he's rude to them or doesn't acknowledge them. They are horrible people especially from what I have seen what they say about their fellow residents on their town forums.

I think I know why Topix may have pulled the forum titled Tommy Lee Jones, which is the one we were posting on originally. Some of the language and abuse that was going on there was really too much. I know I reported several of the postings on there for abuse.

I feel very much like you about that forum. After seeing how some said they behaved and their posts; I couldn't imagine a decent person 'wanting' to be friendly with them.

Personally, I don't know anything about TLJ accept that he's really great at the movies I've seen him in and I appreciate a good movie. So, I couldn't comment much accept from 'logic' and my own personal experience in life.

I was sad for the personal attacks that came from it. But basically chalked it up to realizing I hadn't agreed with their negative opinions.

LOL, yeah they were upset that I posted, not being from their town as well! They thought it was all about their town and not the title of the topic, TLJ.

Oh well, I tend not to believe he'd break up with his wife; I don't think most people make that big of a decision without having made enormous efforts to make it all work. And the media would be all over something like that with such a huge star as TLJ. Shoot, it'd be plastered on every mag cover the stores place near check-out lines.

I'd be sad though, if it were true. The divorces of couples I've known through the years seemed to be very painful. Who'd want anyone to go through that kind of pain, even people one really doesn't know.

I know what its like to have cops come to my door and tell me my husband's been ....(at the time he was dead). And while I was riding in the cruiser to the hospital, the regained his heartbeat. Its very numbing and doesn't seem even real. There really are things too sad to cry about. Things that were one to even cry, it doesn't seem sufficient. At one point during the recovery period, I remember going up an elevator with a woman also with her husband. At the time, hers could converse although he was in a wheelchair. While mine could walk, but conversing wasn't really possible with his brain injury at that time. And I found myself quietly jealous that she still had a husband she could talk too.

It shocked me. And I thought to myself,'who'd have ever thought you'd find yourself jealous of a woman who's husband couldn't walk? It made me realize how valuable a loved ones' mind is.

Well, I do hope people that make movies for us, like TLJ have good lives in real life. People that invest in giving happiness to others should get a slice of it themselves, too, huh?

Hope you've had a good summer SanAntonioBabe! I'm glad to meet someone who's pleasant to post to.

Well, I agree with you completely. If Tommy Lee Jones and his wife were splitting up and getting divorced, it would be fodder for the press. This is even with the fact that he's an extremely private person. As for the people of San Saba and the surrounding towns, they seem to take great offense if someone who's an outsider posting on their town's forum. I have read some of the postings on the town's forum and they spew hatred and terrible things about their fellow town folks. I supposed that's par for the course in small towns, I certainly hope not. They don't like it when I come back at them when they attack me with the name-calling and such. They have no class or couth. They pretend to know so much about the man but quite frankly know very little and prefer to spread rumors about his life. I can definitely understand why he chooses to not associate with such people. They can call him an asshole, unfriendly and rude but they seem to be the ones who are such.

Agree...totally! I ask myself why they can't just treat a movie star like they would a great author and be thankful. Its nice to be able to travel through books and movies into the stories they portray and look at life through other's perspectives. It seems so enriching!

Like would people do this crap to Samuel Clemens, Jonathan Swift, Henry James, Tolstoy, Turgenev, or Hemingway? I kind of view making movies like translation work using another medium.

But aren't artists deserving of respect for their craft like any other craftsman? Do we try to know every personal detail in the life of our doctors or accountants? Yet that what we see people doing to these stars. And its not like we all don't go through the same struggles in real life that they might. Average people get divorces or cheated on, etc., too. But they don't get it splashed all over news rags and have all their fellow countrymen having to see it while they shop and now even on the internet.

I came on this when I saw it thinking I'd see what people thought of TLJ's movies. Sort of like getting a review or connecting with people who saw the same movie I did and enjoying conversation about it. But then I saw all that judging. It was a shocker.

Funny thing though, it made me feel for what people in public life have to deal with. LOL, I thought adding some common sense to the discussion would settle it down. But, as you saw, too, they wanted to post crap didn't they?

These people seem to be jealous and envious of anyone who is happy and content in their lives. Sadly, they only know how to attack and criticize others. I think that the generalize consensus among the public that anyone who's famous like actors, musicians, etc., their lives are no longer their own. They become fodder for the paparazzi and tabloids. I remember what happened to Princess Diana and how some celebrities started fighting back like George Clooney. Violence is not the answer but when someone is pushed to the limit and being constantly harassed and stalked.

A person of that status should be able to go out with their families and friends without being pestered by someone taking their pictures or hounding them for their autograph. They are entitled to bad days like everyone and aren't always photo ready when they step out to go to the store, drive their kids to school or go to the airport.

I can understand why Clooney would feel that way, too. I remember being young and thoughtlessly excited about seeing what I considered 'important' figures. So I feel like I understand that a little. But, I thankfully had a mom who'd grab my hand and say,'that's inappropriate, dear'.

But that's not what we see today. We don't see adults letting the young one know,'its not polite to ...whatever'. Instead, we actually see some adults who'd harass for that child, even. As if they think everyone should just put their life away and cater to those ignorant of manners.

I was always taught,(and then did so myself), that manners is to society as oil is to the engine...it helps it run smoothly and not overheat, lol.

And today, its obvious the manners are needed. Its seems society is ready to blow gaskets more and more often.

Bad manners are like weed in a garden, they'll always crop back up and we have to weed them constantly to keep our gardens,(of our hearts), beautiful.

I think people can get to thinking that being rich equate to being happy, hence they think whatever they do to the rich can't hurt them. But bought kindness doesn't make for a happy heart. Real kindness does; where one can go about, rich or not, like an everyday average joe and be ignored or 'appropriately' kind. You know, be one of the crowd but the crowd being kind enough to know when the 'nice' thing to do is to let them have a meal with their family or friends uninterrupted, let them have an attitude day, or a bad hair day without plastering it all over the internet.

Maybe, the artists ought to start their own paparazzi, and go after the average citizen's bad hair day so they can see how it feels. LOL The problem is, it won't sell. But part of the gap I think is coupled with not having gone through it and therefore having no understanding...along with manners just being not considered important anymore.

I wish people would realize what happened to Diana. And see that being rich in material goods or position in society does not equate to happiness or mean the person's have given up their life or liberties. Would she have died in that car had the paparazzi not hounded her so?

Many who are much less famous or rich are rich in happiness and liberty! They are richer than they realize.

Topix pulled down the Tommy Lee Jones thread off of Topix...again! Oh well, if the people from San Saba could behave civil-it would still be on there. They spread nothing but hatred and lies about the man. Even if some of it may be remotely true, they should respect the man's right to privacy.

Really? I assumed they didn't put back up what they pulled down. Hey, did you see that he's done a movie about Gen. MacArthur?

I think when they keep getting enough reports of abuse on forums in regards to postings, they will pull them off of Topix. I'm assuming this is what happened to both forums on here. I have glanced over to the San Saba forums and see how they talk about others on there. It's slanderous and libelous from the looks of it, they have hardly a good word to say about anyone. So much for living in a small town. They are so territorial about anyone who posts on it. I have seen others from surrounding towns posting on there as well. They don't present a valid argument about much of anything, just spew hatred and trash.

I had to start making my profile settings private. There is a woman who claims TLJ's wife divorced him and she dated him for a couple of months but said he was a little strange for her tastes. She said he had a foot fetish and horses, etc. but then turned around and said he was rude and unfriendly. I came back at her and said he wasn't too rude or unfriendly for her to date him for two months. As we both agree, if the man and his wife were splitting up or divorcing, this shit would be all over the tabloids and fodder for TMZ, Entertainment Tonight, etc.

I think their noses are bent out of joint because the man can see that they are trashy and spread gossip about everyone in their town. I know gossiping is human nature but when it hurts others-it's cruel and heartless.

I have been seeing some stuff about him doing a movie about MacArthur, it's called Emperor. They completed filming a few months ago. The director, Peter Webber also directed The Girl With the Pearl Earring.

Wow, sounds like they got worse than what I saw and I thought then it couldn't get any worse!

LOL, that story is too wild and crazy, unbelievable! Sounds like someone has lost more than a few marbles that San Saba way. I noticed a lot of the crap they spew is sexually oriented, like the story about running naked through town, too.

Yes, its cruel and heartless! Its good its getting pulled, stuff like that just shouldn't be said about people and I'm glad topix doesn't want to be a vehicle for spreading that crap.

I got reacquainted with some people I grew up with recently. It would've hurt me terribly if they were like that. Thankfully, they aren't and I'm really proud of who my neighborhood playmates grew up to be. Most of them fire-fighters, EMS, and navy people. One became a writer and loves to travel.

It gave me a smile and a laugh, I remember a neighbor's dad across the street was the fire chief and we had a colonel in the navy for a teacher who made us sing, "Anchors Away" beginning class each day. Apparently they were very inspiring in our neighborhood!

Its a case of horrible jealousy roaring its ugly head I think down in San Saba, in my opinion. Jealousy can kill the soul sooner than the body, I think, its a terrible thing. They should be proud of him and excited he's from their neck of the woods. And he shouldn't be obligated to pretend he knows them all. Shoot, I find people like him very inspiring without knowing them or having any connection at all. We don't have to know them to know 'of them' and see the wisdom or talent in how they accomplished what they did.

But it looks like being successful can open it own 'pandora's box' for lack of a better phrase.

Its called, Emperor? Yeah, someone was talking about his making another movie about Gen. MacArthur. That's something else I like about his acting, he's always doing such a variety of roles. Its not like some actors who you can almost predict how their character will be played. Its nice to know the character will have some mystery.:)
