What a surprise...the gays weren't offended by what is basically a gay porno movie that makes fun of straight people.
Most of the rest of us, however, ARE OFFENDED, as is evidenced by the mass walkouts of people who find this film WAAAAY over the top in terms of gay sex and full frontal nudity in the name of "comedy". This film should have been rated NC-17 at the very least.
Contrary to the title of this article: Plenty of offense, Bruno is NOT funny!!!!

And how many of those people who walked out on Bruno would be perfectly fine with full frontal female nudity? Hypocrisy is not pretty.

During Joan Rivers' stand up this past May, she exclaimed, "...and the gays! The gays will laugh at anything."

I haven't seen Bruno, but I'm certain it will be a hit among many gays; it's healthy to laugh at oneself

You mean Sacha Baron Cohen is not funny. Somehow in a while from now,He'll another character that is another "exaggerated stereotype" of some other group.

Is this the gay community's tacky attempt at normalcy, or what.

If you're watching "Bruno" as means to understand the gay community, then you're dumber than I originally assumed.

I would venture to say that if people go to an NC-17 film (as this should have been), they would be expecting full frontal nudity because they knew what kind of film they were going to see (male or female depending on the film). Contrary to your allegation, those who were offended weren't hypocrites - just betrayed by the ratings board.

Does it really matter if the film were "R" or "NC17"? Parents shouldn't be letting their pre-teens be viewing R flicks in the first place.

My god, if you're so easily offended, why would you risk watching a film whose star is known for being utterly completely over-the-top? It's just a penis, the male reproductive organ. We know what it looks like, and how it functions.

After reading your reaction, I am really intrigued to see this.

"It's just a penis".

People with attitudes like yours is what's really wrong with society today and why so many kids are having sex at younger and younger ages. You obviously were never taught the difference between right and wrong.

Okay. Look. I get you want to be a do gooder-change the world-head in a "hole" type of individual. But seriously

I just saw the film. Anyone that takes this seriously needs to have their head examined. It is a satire deserving of Jonathon Swift.

And as for your contention that movies like this are causing the youth of America to have promiscuous sex ... honestly. Get a life. That is patently ridiculous. I suggest you:(1) get a sense of humor; (2) get a brain; (3) tell your like minded sophmoric friends to get lost. Danke.

I agree that the straight people in the film looked really dumb. First and foremost was Ron Paul. If you thought he was a moron before you will really enjoy laughing at him here. I think he might go from getting .01% of the vote to .001% of the vote in 2012 after his cameo. What a grade A moron.

No Tom our PARENTS taught us what is "right and wrong" they didn't drop us off at the theatre and say "get out, go learn about life, so i can go get drunk."

Tom, I guess you depend on movies and TV to teach your kids what is right or wrong, I can see why you would be concerned.

Nudity is and has been common is Europe for years. Their children are mostly fine. We hide these things away from children and they get curious then they do it and like it and have babies. But if we make nudity a non issue then there wouldnt be any issue.

I don't know who you are and have never read any of your articles before, but now that I know you think Cohen is funny, I can avoid your writings.

I'm amazed that anybody who would go to see Bruno would be offended by it. I mean, especially after Borat, who pays 10 bucks a ticket to see a movie that they have no inkling as to what it's about????? Will this movie make me cringe? I'm sure it will.

It's already out, via word of mouth, that it in no way approaches borat for its nuance. so hay if you like it, go for it.
