I'm not going to give up cooking burgers on my charcoal grill in exchange for lukewarm veggies baked in a solar oven. If Ed Begley and his animal rights buddies had his way, it will be illegal to eat meat.

Personally I wish it were otherwise that people only really hear the radical side of, any really, issue. Instead of listening and thinking enough so "it" doesn't get to the point of having to take radical action(s). And Ed Begley Jr. is the radical side of what I think we should have been paying attention to all along.

Never-the-less I think some of what he says should be heeded.

Indigenous Americans had a much better sense of where our place on and responsibility for this rock was for thousands of years before Europeans arrived.

As a Alumni of Davenport I am sadden that they are allowing someone who believes 9/11 is a conspiracy to be given a voice at a education event; even if its for "Green" week.

There are far less crazy people who they could have asked to speak about environmental improvements, etc..

I think Ed has great idea's in concept. But I don't know how many people would be able to do them themselves. I would have really enjoyed seeing him speak though. I am all for finding alternative energy sources, but I think Global warming is a whole lot of hooey. But I also think you can be a good conservative and care about what you are doing to the environment.

I hear that!Yesterday after blowing with my 2-stroke leaf blower and burning them,I grilled a nice juicy Porterhouse over Kingsford with mesquite.Mmmmmmm.....The grill police can take mine after they pry my cold, dead fingers off of the handle! The same goes for my 2-stroke snowmobile and outboard.I'll consider 4-stroke when they price them so that Joe Sixpack can afford them.Drill baby, drill!

While I agree that a more sustainable lifestyle is better for the environment, the only green in most of the solutions that I've seen so far is in the price tag. Ever price out a solar solution for your home? Gas and electricity from the grid is still less expensive. Plenty of sun for a reflector oven in Cali though.

Daily Horoscope for January 6

Scorpio

Don't let yourself be caught up in a crowd mentality. Just because someone else makes a major production out of what should be a simple matter, doesn't necessarily mean that it has to affect you adversely. You might be able to bring down the volume with a tap on the shoulder and a meaningful look. Even though it might not seem like it, your cool head is definitely appreciated at times like this.
