Sending people into space is a luxury, not a necessity. Unmanned spacecraft are cheaper and robots can do just about anything a man can do manually because they are being remotely controlled by men anyway. I agree it is a lot sexier to send men to Mars and beyond than fix things here at home but sooner or later we all have to grow up,even astronauts. There's only so much money to go around and something has to go. This is actually long overdue, that and scrapping overpriced super fancy jet planes nobody wants but the contractors that make them and their government enablers. Predator drones are far cheaper and safer because the pilots are not in the cockpit. The era of the high-priced diva cowboy will have to wait for another day when we can afford that luxury once again.
