gas was 39 cents a gallon
traffic bumper to bumper from E Street to Lincoln
on lucky nights we scored a 6 pack of Schlitz Malt Liquor
we'd go down to SRHS and cut some roses off bushes in the parking lot to carry around in the car
if we got stuck in traffic in front of or behind a car of girls we'd jump out at a red light and give then to them hoping to get lucky
and there was this mystery/Suzanne Somers blond
always drove solo in a brand new '68 gold corvette
rumor was she went to Redwood and lived in Kent Woodlands and her daddy was rich
i got away
but for all the years away in some pretty nice places always longed to come home
with a lot of hard work and luck was able to
like Dorothy said in Oz as she clicked her heals together and closed here eyes
"There's no place like home"
