Look to dusty Iowa cornfields, rain-soaked Virginia parks, the muddy fields of the Shelby County Fairgrounds, where a crowd of 9,500 - almost half of this western Ohio town - gathered among the barns and stables on a frigid October evening this week to glimpse the Republican presidential contender.

Hmmm... I'm not seeing the much ballyhooed "Romney Surge" I've heard so much tell of.

I don't gennerally put much stock in the polls, but from the looks of it very little has changed...

This election is still just too close to call, and I wager the Electorial College will once again have to decide the outcome.

But how did they stand in the Electorial College at that time?

As we learned the hard way in 2000, when Al Gore won more actual American votes but less in the EC, he who has the Electorial College leaning his way has the election.

A little something called the electoral college could mess with America's political psyche even worse than the "hanging chads" fiasco of 2000.

Romney is up +1 nationally in the recent Real Clear Politics average poll, but according to the RCP electoral college map, Obama will win the electoral colllege 281-257, and hence the presidency.

Similarly, the latest Reuters/Ipsos national poll has Obama only leading +1. But according to the Ipsos electoral college projection above, Obama should win handily, 332-206.

Both maps give Obama victory in Ohio - a key state on Romney's path to victory.

From everything I've seen Romney has over 300 electoral votes. And Ohio is no neccessary for Romney to win.

While the voters that count, the Electorial College, seems to be leaning to Obama... shades of 2000, anyone?

This looks like a pretty accurate site... correct me if you think I'm wrong, of course.

Remember, I'm not voting for either Romney or Obama, but am throwing my lot in with Gary Johnson, win or (most likely) lose.
