No decision yet on new director for 911 center

The search for a new 911 director continues. On Wednesday, during a special-called meeting of Pulaski County Fiscal Court, Pulaski County Judge-executive Barty Bullock said those applicants received and interviewed by the court would be turned over to the 911 Board for further review.

Im not sure why were putting the county through all of this obviously political..hassle of appointing the new 911 director. First and foremost lisa gilbert has been an active member of the center for 17 years now, and has assisted rick for most of his term,,,experience should speak for itself....
this is not a popularity contest,,or because daddy knows someone i get the job !!!...lets put our lives and the lives of our loved ones in capable hands.....stop the political crap and do the right thing !!!!.....

What exactly is the political crap that you speak of? When a 911 director is appointed they use the same method as they did for the previous director. Persons apply for the position through the fiscal court, who then interviews them. After the board reviews their applications and interviews them the 911 Board gets to look over the applications and interviews and they vote on who they believe is the best candidate for the job.

Let's face it, Rick Barker built that place to implode upon his departure. The star shines brightest just before it's gone. I think a bunch of people need to realize that you're about to turn into just another county agency with no representation and the most of you may want to look for another occupation.

Rick sure would go to bat for his employees. Even those who continue to do a poor job. Last I recall many of the fire chiefs wanted to Rick to come to a fire commission meeting a while back to discuss some issues with dispatchers not responding on the radio in a timely manner. Rick was a no show. Sandra or Lisa all that I ask is if some can't improve their listening skills on the radio--ship them out.

ibet u the decision want be made be4 may election it has 2 candidates on the line 1 larry westley andt the other barty bullock it will run its self until jan 26th or after election time will tell lisa not only has deserved it but can handle it and should get it its no different than when a chief of police leaves and the asst chief takes over but this county has trouble with this procedure

No Police Cheif - No Fire Cheif - No 911 Administrator - HMMMMMM - Promote from within , P O P ,(piss on politics)-hire the most qualified and get this thing rolling - Rewarding golf buddies , drinking buddies , gossip confidants , and extended relatives or the children of long time friends just don't cut it anymore - If a person is efficient in the "interim" position , give them a shot - If the "Powers" are still searching for that PERFECT applicant , close the search ,'cause that person doesn't exist - There will be bumps in the road ahead , cross over them slowly , learn from them , and move on -

Open your eyes. Can't you see. Don't give them the satisfaction of thinking they are fooling anyone. Barty is in a close race, Wood received more votes than any other canidate in the last election, Larry is the Chief deputy.

I am sure Lisa would be the most able to take over but that has nothing to do with anything. Not in Pulaski County.
