Facing contempt charges, Putnam family judge rules on two-year old motions

Jul 12, 2012 | Posted by: roboblogger | Full story: The West Virginia Record

Already facing possibly disciplinary action for his lack of professionalism in a Hurricane pastor's divorce, a Putnam County family law judge has complied with the state Supreme Court's order that he issue a ruling on motions that have been pending in another divorce for nearly two years.

So is it true that Mr. Watkins has been permanently removed from the bench. I hear the JIC made the decision to remove him from the bench until his term is up??
Thats what I heard today. I'm sure you feel like the rest of us....RELIEF. I'm thankful that the JIC saw what needed to be done. Now let's hope the supreme court stands behind it. Thank you JIC for cleaning up. Hopefully they get someone who is compassionate and caring and tries to do what's right for all involved.

Not going to matter now seeing how the JIC made a decision today. Thank you JIC for helping the victims and thank you god for putting it in their hearts to make things right

You will hear about it soon. Attorney called saying that they made a decision today and it will go before supreme court. Hey I'm just repeating what attorney has stated so don't tell me I'm full of it. He admitted to to the crimes so its only fair he pays the price. I'm praying for him and his family that they don't suffer as so many have in his courtroom.

The JIC makes a recommendation and the Supreme Court decides. It will be around April before the supreme court announces they agree, long after his 90 days of supervision.

Love doesn't expose. Love doesn't add fuel to the fire. Love says, they made some mistakes, but god can restore them. They messed up but god has a new beginnIng. God is love and if Christ dwells in the heart then we don't want others to hurt. We forgive.

Putnam resident u are as low as they come, u want to defend someone that has destroyed so many lives. I feel like this conflict between you and the others that post rediculous crazy things about each other is a different topic and u are for the most part alone in your opinion. The fact is this man has done wrong and anyone in any other profession would be disciplined when they do wrong. Mr. Watkins was done wrong and treated people wrong for a long time now, so what makes u think he should be allowed to continue abusing his authority. That black robe doesn't have anything written on it that I can see that says I'm above the law!!
Well said!! Thank you

<quoted text>One would think the JIC or the supreme court would do something more. Aren't they worried about more suits against this judge? They should be.
Generally speaking judges are immune from civil actions under the concept of Soverign Immunity or similar descriptiors. However, here in WV a Supreme Court judge took off his robe and took a swing at a second party. A civil suit ensued and the judge lost. One could very easily argue that this judge in effect took his robe off when he went after Hage with the I will reign the bench and you will be in jail rant.

From those that know the parties it is pretty much a given that the Pastor's wife was a bit "teched" and the Judge's wife diability was alcohol (BTW that is considered a disability). Given the number of incidents and the internet video's this guy's career as a judge is over. The only thing left to decide is whether that is resignation or suspension. The Supreme Court would be sticking a finger in their own eye and reflecting their own professional integrity if they were to do otherwise.

I believe that the supreme will look at all that the JIC stated and will be ready now to get rid of him. They know that a person like him shouldn't be on the bench and I can promise if he would remain in the bench that more complaints would be filed. Wrong is wrong no matter who you are or what you do. I'm praying he does the right thing and step down ASAP. Enough damage has been done. Also why continue to keep in on the beach and give other an opportunity to file more against him. He may be so angry now he's really going to screw with people's lives even more so. Can't they remove him immediately? I wouldn't take a change after what I just read.

Metro News had the best article on the subject and it is found here:

If you scan down you can see a link to the entire 42 page order/recomenndation. With this much detail, I don't see how the Supreme Court can do anything but meet or exceed the recommendation. There is a couple of nuggets in those videos that if the national press catch them will make this thing more viral. In one in particalar he call a woaman a "stupid woman". His problems are not over by any means.

In that document he will earn retirement credit although he is suspended. Using the rule of 2 percent per year of service times his annual salary that would amount to an additional $600 plus in monthly retirement. The legislature needs to close that loophole.

He doesn't deserve a penny seeing how he couldn't uphold the seat.
