If this man had a long criminal record, he should have been in jail, or prison, so he couldn't continue to do criminal activity. The judge that let him out, I think, is to blame also

he should be shot dead. The US is too "correct" anymore. This POS is worthless and we are going to have to take care of him in prison. Total BS.

I agree with Southern Man! We should go back to hanging scum bags! I would be more than happy to be on the fireing squad to shoot him. I think I could find a few more to help out! My 90 year mother went to church with these people. They were very nice! Robbing is one thing, but to rape a 76 year old woman is another. And it is sad that we can't take care of our war veterans, but we can take care of pieces of crap like this one!!
Just another reason while my name is what it is!!

That's was my dads brother I agree with what you all say. When my dad died july 23 2010 he went crazy. But still not a reson to kill them. They had nothing to do with that. I feel for the family of the couple. You are in my prayers.

Its sad what happened. I lived about 2 miles from Bennett Springs when that happened. I was terrified until I heard he was caught. But when i moved to urbana a few years later i learned that the killer had a pretty hard life. Absolutely no excuse for murder. But face it...this kid was damaged goods and never had a chance in life. From what ive been told....his mother used to go around stealing peoples ss checks. Most residence would have to wait by their mail boxes to make sure they got them. Them she would leave him and his brother home alone for days on end with hardly any food. Who knows what this young man could have been in life if he had been given half a chance. But hes damaged now. Hes obviously list the ability to know right from wrong. Hes too far gone and if there was ever any moral compass in him....the drugs have destroyed what was once there. Im not a big believer in the death penalty but this guy has kids! And honostly they deserve a fair shot at a normal life. So i hope he gets the death penalty. I hooe hes ereased from the planet so these kids dont feel obligated to contact him. He needs to b nothing more than a memory because there is no longer any good he has left to offer. Maybe if he had felt remourse and oleaded guilty i may have had a little sympathy for him. But hes off the drugs since hes in jail. His mind is as clear as its ever going to get. And ge still couldnt b a man and stand up and do the right thing. The only hope for him now is that he gets the death penalty and that the knowledge that hes going to die inspires him to reach out to spiritual advisors and get saved before its too late. Its sad. But this is exactly why incompetent excuses for mothers shouldnt have their kids. And its exactly why he should have been taken away from her and given a shot at life. I feel so bad for the family of the bennett springs couple. Its heartbreaking and not fair. I hope that justice will bring them some sense of closure.

Urbana girl,
You can't blame what he did on somebody else as you are doing with his mother. He did it, he raped that poor woman and she was 70+ years old. It's all his fault. He made choice when he did what he did, just like the tats on his face, he's nothing but scum and deserves to be tortured before being put to death.

I didnt excuse his behavior. He is 100% responsible for what he did that night and all his crimes before that night. Of course hes going to get the death penalty. And i believe he should. Just like i said...even when hes off the drugs he didnt have a moral compass or he wouldnt have put anyone thru a trial. Some people have no soul or it got lost along the way. However i respectfully disagree with you on the point that no one else is to blame. Look at what happened to his brother. U tell me if either of those two ever had a shot at life? People who raise children to become monsters should be held accountable. Ans they sure as hell shouldnt be given two grandchildren to raise seeing what a bang up job the did with their own! I dont believe babies are born evil. I truly believe it is a learned behavior. That doesnt excuse their actions as adults. But frankly he never should have been released. Did u know the afternoon before he committed those murders he was pacing up and down elm in front of the drug counseling office? Did u know he waited there over an hour outside for whomever was supposed to be there? I remember because he scared the living crap out of me while i was at work in the same set of buildings. Anyone couldd take one look in his eyes and see there was nothing there. So much so that i left that day because he wouldnt. I dont understand how he was allowed out of prison...unsupervised...and allowed to just roam with no accountability.
the sooner hes gone the better. The last thing society needs is him in a prison educating petty criminals to become more like him. Hes sick and what he did is inexcusable. I just have some serious concerns for us all now that his mother is raising 2 of his children. Im not thrilled that they go to my kids school. And honostly ive considered moving because of the fact that woman has influence over them.
