The Lost Decade of the Middle Class | Pew Social & Demographic Trends

Oct 2, 2012 Full story: www.pewsocialtrends.org 10

As the 2012 presidential candidates prepare their closing arguments to America's middle class, they are courting a group that has endured a lost decade for economic well-being. Since 2000, the middle class has shrunk in size, fallen backward in income and wealth, and shed some-but by no means all-of its characteristic faith in the future.

Guvm't propaganda rears it's ugly head yet again. Taken from cues by Guvm't controlled news sources like MSNBC which are similar in tactics to what the soviets have done to their hapless people.
You have to be rotten to participate.

The group can't be very large.

When unemployment is at 9%, that means that employment is at 91%!

People who have jobs haven't lost very much. In fact inflation has (so far) stayed VERY LOW.

HOWEVER, looking forward, with the FED printing money like there is no tomorrow, EVERYONE is going to lose.(even rich folks)

Yeah, and an UNPRECEDENTED amount of illegals enter this country and

flood our healthcare system-which WE pay for
get free housing-which WE pay for,
get free food-which WE pay for,
get free schooling-which WE pay for,
get free phones-which WE pay for,
and bring disease into America: whooping cough, TB, etc -because illegals are NOT immunized as LEGAL IMMIGRANTS are required to be!

FAILURE to PROTECT OUR BORDERS=OBAMA

We are awash in illegal immigrants and WE pay for them, and they deplete our country with the expense of their upkeep.

NO TO OBAMA
OWEbama=$16 TRILLION DEBT

another AZ Border Agent murdered TODAY! Other agents wounded. Now, you know why AZ was so adamant in wanting additional help from Obama.

With the death of ANOTHER AZ Border Agent we can now say, "Hello, Senator Flake!

NO to OWEBAMA
NO TO ALL DEMOCRATS RUNNING FOR SENATE!

Living wage jobs are being replaced with mcjobs that pay low wages with no health insurance. Corporate greed is destroying the middle class and they are doing it deliberately. The gop has made it crystal clear that they view the working and middle classes with contempt and derision! Both candidates are little more than corporate shills. mittwit has clearly expressed what he actually thinks of working Americans!

IF, and this is an impossible if, Americans could find some common ground and come to it, we might solve our problems. But I'm convinced we don't really want to solve anything because it's easier (and face it, many find it fun) to bash each other and political candidates than look at the real issues at hand.

Why? Because we're lazy and we believe going to the polls will take care of everything. Vote 'em in, vote 'em out and then sit back and gripe for another four years. We really don't want to think about what has actually brought our nation to its knees. Capitalism, not politics, has destroyed us.

There’s nothing wrong with capitalism. It’s worked in America since the beginning, but NOTHING works well when it’s allowed to run rampant or when it’s allowed to have too much power and control.

It’s not Obama who couldn’t create jobs; it’s businesses who wouldn’t create jobs. How many of you, like myself, are working longer hours and taking on more work because your company refuses to hire more people? How many of you are getting pitiful raises or maybe none at all? How many of you are paying more for health insurance? How many of you have been told ‘no overtime’ even if you’re putting in a 9 or 10 hour day’s worth of work? How many of you have seen your work environment deteriorate? How many of you feel your company doesn’t care about you whatsoever? How many of you have worked long enough at a company to see the changes? How many of you have lost jobs due to the “economy”. How many of you have watched your company make record profits?

That has nothing to do with a president. That is a business model out of control. It’s the businesses that are screwing us and killing the country. What do they care about America? They’ve shipped our jobs away and laid us off and closed factories and downsized and yet continued to pay the top management millions of dollars in compensation for destroying the rest of us…as well as our country.

I wonder how many posters here in Topix are actually working people. I wonder how many live the day to day struggle that companies have created for millions of Americans. While everyone gripes about Obama, or the 47% percent, or illegal aliens or God knows what else, those who DO work for a living are being treated like trash. Big business rules our jobs, our homes, our money, our kids’ educations….our very lives are controlled by those who control and have the power….and it ain’t the government.

Yes, capitalism is a good thing. It allows people to create, to build on ideas, to work at success…but capitalism has become the destroyer of our nation and all of us. If we don’t start understanding that we can vote until we’re blue, but we just continue to suffer.

In time corporate greed will also destroy itself. The barometer of an economy is the people affected by it. Don't look up to see how the wealthy are doing, look down to see how the working class is doing. Economic hardship is like a rising tide. It starts at the bottom, but it will slowly engulf everyone. Economic prosperity is similar. If those at the bottom are doing fine, then those at the top have nothing to worry about.
