The official tally of the U.S. Army Dugway Proving Ground bird incident:
12,800 Eared Grebe birds involved.
7,826 living birds.
4,972 dead.
About 40 birds taken to local wildlife rehabilitation faciities.
Figures provided by Robbie Knight, wildlife biologist at Dugway Proving Ground, Utah.
