Ural Newbie Alert - Oil Question ??

I am the proud new owner of an 02 Ural BC750...
As such, im looking to change out all the fluids, tighten bolts, adjust brakes, etc...
Looking thru the manual (I was lucky enough to get all the original paperwork in its original Orange vinyl folder), there is mention on Ural Oil Additive ??? as well as using 20w50 Detergent Oil.
I was hoping someone could help me out here a little....
Does anyone actually USE the additive ???? If so, is there a generally accepted substitute ???
Any recomendations on Type/Brand of Oil ???

The additive is referred to as "Ural Snot". This is rarely used anymore. Any quality name brand oil will work. regular dino oil is fine, as you are changing the oil frequently (2500km/1500 miles).
I've used Castrol GTX, Havoline etc.
In colder weather I use Shell Rotella 15w-40. This is a very robust oil.
Synthetics, in this application, are a waste of money.

So far I've used nothing but Pensoil 20W50 and it seems to work well. The synthetics are for high heat applications like the new twin cam Harleys. I don't think the Ural is that picky about the oil just as long as there's plenty of it and it's clean.

The so-called Ural snot is/was a product called HyperLube. It may still be available but it's use by most Ural owners has been discontinued.
HyperLube was recommended by the former importer of Urals. When that importer dropped the line and a factory subsidiary took over, the recommendation for Ural snot was dropped.
HyperLube was/is a thick, clear, gooey liquid. It has about the consistency (sp?) of honey. There are other similar products around - STP comes to mind. You don't need it, as others have indicated.
Don'yt use synthetic oil. It's more openetrating that dinosaur oil and will leak.
